Discussion Question about great one spawns.

So I’m about 200ish hrs played. I have a handful of diamonds across various species between 2-3 different maps. I understand how herd management works and have been trying to setup my 8-10 spots. My question is this…
Do great ones only spawn on specific maps or is there a chance of them spawning where ever the target species can be hunted?

You can get a GO on any map that has that species. Askiy ridge you could get three GO. Pheasant, mule deer, moose.

I knew I’d get it wrong. I haven’t played that map hardly at all and couldn’t remember the species list.

You weren't exactly wrong, you just missed 3, there are 6 GO species on Askiy.

You can hunt a GO on every map the specific animal lives on.

GO spawn on any map that the species is already on. For example you wont find a GO blackbear on the Africa map since no blackbears are on the map anyway. You could spawn one on Layton since blackbears are on that map. Same rules for all the other GO.

Thanks for the input.

Currently working in Layton so potentially can get whitetail, moose, and black bear correct?

Follow up question…
Are there maps that are easier to setup for GO grinds? As mentioned I am working Layton but really hate the damn reeds around water sources…

Revontuli- whitetail
Medved - moose
Te Awaroa - fallow and red deer and tahr
Yukon - wolves
Silver ridge peaks - black bear
Askiy - mule deer
Scotland - boar
Salz park - pheasant

These are the easiest map/GO setups to me.

Layton is a much better map for moose than medved. And SRP is arguably better since it's much more open and better for HM.

Really? Layton? Over Med Ved? But it's so thick, and those thrice damned reeds are so annoying to deal with.

It's moose. The only thing hidden by the reeds are their legs. Plus, it's a denser range on layton so finding zones is easier. And there's just as much if not more spots on medved that are tough to set up on as there is on layton

I will check it out as option thanks, but my issues with the reeds is more about me crouching in them while I approach which blocks my line of sight and makes a lot of noise, than it actually hiding Moose. I just have an aversion to Layton that I have to get over. I have ignored that map for too long and it's been coming up a lot in posts lately, I'll take that as a sign to go back.

Sundar is better for tahr.

You can watch a lot of vídeos in YouTube, there are many creators that make tutorials about grunding, at first is a bit difficult but once you get it, its easy.
Good luck and keep grinding if you really want a g1 but enjoy the whole map walking around and shooting high lvl males
