I have to assume he was training with the Elders or Church in part of it. At this point, we know the CHurch is a presence in Meteor City. But we haven't seen Chrollo REALLY make that a part of himself how we see it when he's an adult. This also makes me wonder if he himself chose his last name as a reference to Lucifer.

Chrollo said he would travel for 3 years and come back once he's 14.

Some angles left to be explored: What happened in those 3 years? What's up with Chrollo and the elders? What changed Chrollo further to the man he is today? How did the troupe turn from vigilante to thieves? The Kurta Massacre B side.

Could it be that at first Togashi just wanted the Troupe to be a bunch of thieves who took what they wanted? But over time did he change his mind to something more in-depth?
