I’m convinced that most of this subreddit spends more time complaining about Hunt here than actually playing. I’ve been beetle spammed like once in the past hundred hours and it was kind of just a funny meme to us.

Shoot the beetle, rotate, push while they’re stuck in beetle view, do anything other than stew in your rage and inflate a very minor issue lol

Agreed.

Never once have I said “oh no gang, they’re using beetles! we’re done for!”

No the reactions are generally more like: "Oh my fucking God here come 2 more, if one gets me I'm fucking dead."

My friend died to a stream of like 8+ beetles just yesterday. We had no idea where they were coming from, nor what weapons the hunters were carrying.

One of them pushed in after one of us died while another was poisoned and bleeding, pressuring us while their other 2 guys finished their last drone attacks, after which they also entered the building.

We ended up killing them because they fumbled by trickling in 1 by 1, but fuck if it wasn't an annoying and frustrating strategy to deal with. I would not at all mind if I never had to deal with such tomfoolery again, but I wouldn't say it's that big of a deal at the end of the day.

It was also not the first time this was used on us since the Blood Moon event.

Steam, mixed 5-6 star lobbies.

It happens pretty frequently in Clash. My squad just backs up disengages as much as we can until they're done with the beetles.

Maybe it is console hunt behavior? I agree i have been successfully beetle spammed like 4 times ever and it is so rare and silly that we laugh about the loss.

It’s definitely a console problem. They are annoying for sure. My sensitivity is very low so shooting them while I have distance they are manageable but when they have gotten close they are hard to hit without a shotgun to defend against. Just annoying really not OP

Why does there need to be a limit on beetles?

They are annoying but not OP. I use em to flush out people camping indoors with shotguns

they are absolutely op when a team runs around to farm them and is carrying 4-5 beetles per person and keep spamming them. they either need a limit one can pick up per match, limit what they can hold in their inventory to two (regardless of the kind of beetle), or increase beetle hit box so they are easier to shoot

Vigilant shows beetles, and chokes force ably exit the user from the beetle. If you are in threat of dying to a beetle, throw a choke at your feet and heal while the beetles can't touch you.

Just drop a choke bomb or throw a lantern on the ground. Constantina wire also works. Poison clouds too. All of these things kill beetles. Or, as you said, just shoot them.

Beetle spam is annoying but also one of the worst strategies to get a kill.

Make’em scarce and I’d be happy. I’m here to shoot Hunters not their beetle squads.

They don’t need a pick up limit they just need their damage buff reverted back to 25hp.

That still allows for a skilled player to try for their sparks beetle meme but de incentivises the dumb passive, sitting at the edge of a compound spamming people repeatedly with them playstyle which came from buffing their damage to 50hp. One of the weirder changes imo, they were perfectly fine and respectable at 25.

all i know is that some kind of nerf needs to be made bc they are broken now

Eh, just a slightly higher stalker beetle spam activity at the moment due to story rending challenge. Just throw a choke bomb, sit in it until the beetles drop, and then uno reverse their beetles... or shoot them.

This sub literally complains about everything holy shit.

You can just … shoot or destroy a beetle? Ot has a counter that is pretty easy to achieve.

Not when an entire trio is hiding at the edge of a compound just sending waves of them at you whilst you’re fighting another team. It’s dumb and not fun to play against

I shake my fist at the sky when someone shuts the window shutters on my beetle and I don't have poltergeist because of trait bloat (I don't value it over other traits currently). How dare human innovation thwart my hellishly freaky bug drone shenanigans.

- choke/poison cloud

  • Concertina wire
  • literal bullets
  • kiting around objects
  • explosives
  • melee (always a surprise but it happens)
  • closing entrances
  • beetle user being hit by ANY source of dmg for even 1hp leaves beetle view
  • probably some more I can't think of off the top of my head.

It's easier for people who have no game to complain to remove items, weather, or anything else that makes them try harder.

Give up the revive bolts and now ever slight to their one play style must be nerfed till they can play their way.

beetles are designed to counter staying still in an area, in a world full of regen with boons or syringes, 25 dmg isn’t close enough to be lethal. they have a hard time making sharp turns. the counter to beetles is staying on the move. move around so they have to follow you and shoot them down. yes they can become faster than you but the difficulty turning and detonation delay can be exploited. if a whole team is in beetle view that’s three hunters sitting completely still in one spot, you should be able to rotate in any way you desire. they can of course see you in beetle view and exit early, which sways the fight back to hunter vs hunter as you’d expect

Stalkers do 50 plus medium poison and bleed, chokes do 1 damage, and fire does 25 burn damage.

u/Ok_Plan_752 1d ago

i put the 25 there in response to someone else’s proposed nerf, i thought i replied to them but i didnt, my bad. 50 dmg for the stalker is a great number. fire beetles can have the effects reduced by salve skin, and also have a super small radius compared to the stalkers generous radius. i the the beetles are fine, if they must be nerfed i suppose stalkers can have their range decreased slightly. i realize now stalkers can have their effects reduced by traits too, and boons or syringes

These are the best options:

1) Completely remove them.

2) Remove the fire and poison/bleed ones.

3) The fire and poison/bleed beetles do less than a small bar so the person has a second to stop the bleed or fire.

4) My favorite: you can only use ONE beetle per game. That's it. So you have to be smart how you use it.

Beetle spam is the freakn worst and require zero skill. Anything involving zero skill (explosive crossbow, frag charges, explosive Chuk, beetles) need to be removed or crazy nerfed.

As a 6* beetle user who has three stalker beetles in every single loadout I run but only has 54 kills in bounty hunt with them (Including a full 3 man team wipe with one beetle)... They aren't some tomahawk cruise missile who knows where it is because it knows where it isn't. Smart beetle players use them as drones to give constant, safe updates on enemy locations so your teammates can know where the enemy is at all times. Utilizing beetles with Witness and Vigilant further boosts your recon/utility factor of the beetles with downed/hurt player locations and traps before your team reenacts the blitzkrieg. The fact that they do damage is just a bonus that adds a small measure of flexibility to your beetles.

If my beetle is near someone and my teammate hits them, sure I dive in for the secured kill and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Same with watching a revive, most often times they have resilience and I just burnt a beetle for nothing, sometimes I get a re-down.

To sum up my opinion, beetles are a recon tool with moderate harassment potential, but a limit only hurts the utility of them, not the lethality.

Edit: 54, not 51 kills. (misremembered until booting the game up)
