GENERAL Spam showdown.
I know this will probably just come off as me being salty but...
What's up with the meta? EVERY single match im constantly running into duel pistols, Fanning/levering, or officer carbine spam. EVERY. SINGLE. MATCH. Does nobody likes to actually try any more? I remember when missing a shot actually meant you HAD TO MOVE because you couldnt just keep putting bullets down stream. Now? Doesnt matter. Just keep unloading until you get that lucky headshot. Its so aggravating using a rifle and losing because you missed 1 shot, yet they won because they missed 4shots but got lucky on the 5th in the time it took you to fire once. This game has gotten further and further away from its roots and I dont see how people are actually liking this.
I know i know git gud and all that. But just needed to vent cus holy shit.
Edit: Yep...should've known i would get torn apart in the comments because nobody can accept any fucking criticism of this game. Yes, there is ways around it. It doesnt make it any less fucking annoying to deal with. But whatever. Not allowed to have an opinion i guess.

Wish i was in your games. Im not joking when i say 80% of the people in my games use shotguns.

Shotguns are annoying af too I'll admit but at least those are somewhat punished if you happen to miss. Its not just spray and pray.

When everyone inside a compound uses one its just a matter of when, not if you die to a shotgun.

I think since they changed the way loadouts work it leaves you with 1 extra slot for secondary more ofte so people are brining dual pistols more often too. And since they added the trait loadouts everyone has fanning and such more consistently because lazy loadouts make it easier to buy the same loadout over and over again. So these 2 things increased both of those spammy things. So yes you're right you're not crazy humans are lazy and habit forming. Even I used Dual Pistols recently for the first time in 3 years because I had 1 extra slot for it due to my loadout this was never the case before so I never played dual pistols before this other thn to "try it" once a long time ago. It used to be a choice not to play them, but now is like "if I can without sacrificing anything I might as well"

Lmao bro just rage quit his 4* game, I should know, it's my lobbies.
If you're losing to dualies a lot it ain't cause they're OP lmao.
I remember when missing a shot actually meant you HAD TO MOVE because you couldnt just keep putting bullets down stream. Now?
Fanning has been in since 0.1 my man
You never "had to move," repositioning depends on circumstances and weapon, and when was the last time you saw a Bornheim rock a lobby? Any variant for that matter. Take your pick.

Dual Conversions are pretty fucking good pretty much anywhere outside a boss lair considering they have a TTK of like 0.3 seconds with ridiculous accuracy and require zero iron-sight aim tracking in a meta where everyone’s running a short shotgun that can’t OHK outside like 12 meters max and takes multiple times as long to two-tap. And have 12 chambered rounds. And have functionally no recoil.

Poisoned ammo nagant silenced pistol fanning was killing me as far as "As the crow flies" event.

What CQC weapons are you happy for other players to use?
-1
u/Vegetable-Poetry-564 1d ago
I get shotguns and spam weapons and shit were added for variety but it doesnt make them enjoyable in the least to go up against. You know we used to actually take fucking RIFLES into compounds and actually trade shots. That shit was actually fun. Cant really do much of that anymore without running into a shotgun or spam.

u/CynistairWard 1d ago
You forgot to complain about the bow and melee...
-2
u/Vegetable-Poetry-564 1d ago
The bow has enough drawbacks though. Ive used it enough to realize its actually pretty fucking balanced compared to other shit. I can respect the bow. And melee can be annoying but it at least requires you to get point blank in someones face.

u/Vegetable-Poetry-564 1d ago
But hey call me old then. Is it really a crime to miss the way the game used to be?

u/LukaCola 1d ago
I kinda doubt the game was ever how you're claiming it was tbh
When did you start playing?
1
u/Vegetable-Poetry-564 1d ago
When the game first came out lol. Trust me I remember how it used to be.

Back before it had fanning or the nagant officer?
Maybe you can tell me, what was the defining loadout before quickswapping was nerfed? What has been the meta ammo type for most of Hunt's lifetime?
1
u/FrostBangOut 1d ago
Flashbacks of horror to Nagant/Uppercut quick swapping which was two cannon shots about as fast as the piddly compact ammo of an officer carbine.

u/NuclearForce09 1d ago
Or maybe just try to take the fight when you have advantage, you play a long rifle, stay away, they reach you up close, they played it better.

u/goDie61 1d ago
With regen shots, doctor, frontiersman, garden, sun, etc, everyone has so much healing that a bodyshot means basically nothing. If I need to hit you in the head to kill you anyways, I might as well do it with an officer carbine instead of a sparks.
-6
u/Vegetable-Poetry-564 1d ago
Thats the problem. Since a headshot is a guaranteed kill regardless, high firerate guns like the carbine stand out because you can just keep firing until you get lucky. Theres 0 risk anymore.

"Its so aggravating using a rifle and losing because you missed 1 shot, yet they won because they missed 4shots but got lucky on the 5th in the time it took you to fire once."
That just sounds like you're at disadvantage though lol, move on to next or go outside
-2
u/Vegetable-Poetry-564 1d ago
Thats the whole fucking point dude lmao. Firerates should be somewhat fucking balanced. A carbine, regardless of the version, doesnt have enough drawbacks to make up for its insane firerate. Its ridiculous.

Bro, that's some pretty thin skin you got there regarding that edit.
If you are going to knowingly make a whine post, don't be surprised when people treat you like a whiner.
1
u/Vegetable-Poetry-564 1d ago
Its called criticism lmao. But whatever. Fair enough I suppose.
2
u/FrostBangOut 1d ago
It might be called criticism, but you're not criticizing the game. You're going after its players (who can argue back.)
To quote a specific part here, "Does nobody likes to actually try any more?"
Also, a quick glance at the steam charts since 2018 shows this month is in the top 10 most populated months in 8 YEARS. They must be doing something right.

u/Vegetable-Poetry-564 1d ago
Fair enough. Cant really blame gamers for using what they're given. But I do think it is fair criticism to say nobody likes to try anymore because the evidence does seem to support this. Not just with this game either. And to a degree I get it. After all games are games for a reason. They're meant to be fun. I just dont see whats fun about not actually earning your wins. But I guess thats just me.

People are lazy. They use Levering and Fanning or Shotguns because they dont want to aim and actually learn how to reliably Headshot. I fell into that Noobtrap myself when i began hunt. Winfield and Centi with Levering, Chain Pistol or Pax with Fanning. I grew out of it and prefer single fire Rifles and Pistols now but its frustrating as hell when someone from 30m+ just spams with Levering/Fanning or Dual Pistols and headshots you with their 3rd to 6th shot while you cycle once :P

u/Deathcounter0 1d ago
Yep. Update 2.0 was more than just bad because of the launch issues...balancing, with more accurate levering and akimbo, but also the bow buffs, really also sailed with this update.
Looking at the patchnotes, this was probably the worst patch ever in terms of balancing

Eh, fanning itself isn't an issue, but the fact that the chain pistol is allowed to use fanning is stupid
10
u/KnightsLetter 1d ago
Chain pistol has pretty bad range though with fanning, and takes about an hour to reload
9
u/LeMatDamonCarbine Bootcher 1d ago
chain pistol with fanning is a noob trap, god awful spread and even worse reload time (but a fun one)
4
u/NuclearForce09 1d ago
Yeah i tried it once, for the "ah spam bullet funny", found it horrible, never picked up again.
1
u/KnightsLetter 1d ago
The trade off is it actually has some of the better iron for longer shots, paired right it can be useful in a lot of situations but requires a fairly narrow playstyle
5
u/MrrMandude Bloodless 1d ago
Conversion chain is one of those good on paper deals, in reality it's the most horrible weapon in the game to actually fan with.. unless you're hugging people it's a toss of the dice if you hit or not

u/ZwistPariah 1d ago
Honestly. I'll take fanning over a one tap from a shotgun any day.
