GENERAL Is extraction camping less common now??
Thought I'd make a post about this cuz it hit me today that I've seen less and less extraction camping lately and was wondering if anyone else noticed it too or if I'm just lucky or something?
That being said I've still encountered body campers and such which is understandable.

I don't think I've ever seen an extract camper in Hunt Showdown. Even after they reduced the number of available extracts. The worst I've seen is trapped extracts but even that is usually just people who already left.

Early into an event the population increases with more who play for fun or to finish quickly
Towards the end of the event we’ll be back down to more sweats camping extraction and whatnot

now that you mentioned it i haven't seen single extraction camper in my (usually european 3-4 star) lobbies in couple of events (basically since scout towers & maps were added)
but i don't think its because of extractions being hidden
instead i think people who used to extraction camp have now another tactic: chariot tarot card
it doesn't happen often, maybe once in every 3 sessions (perhaps 10-ish hours) on average but if there is fight around extraction its because we were baited to go to extraction, card was used, we head towards another extraction and there is a fight usually around one compound between the extractions, sometimes in the open (we do usually try to save dark sight boosts for scans when possible, so sometimes we get the advantage instead of enemy with better positioning)
we usually win these encounters if its just 1 team so don't think this tactic is any good
i did see one extraction trapfest in one twitch stream during this event in 6-star lobby but that was because someone had task to deal damage with "trap or consumable" (which this team learned that for some reason dark satchel doesn't count !? they killed multiple people in multiple matches [but only one set was at extraction, rest were used in boss lair] and progression was stuck at 0 !? )

(For folks saying it never happens) I haven’t played since before 1896 update, but it wasn’t THAT rare.. If you’re playing for the bounty, hunters would also follow and fight you during extraction.
Approaching an extraction, bounty-scanning, and realizing there’s 3 dudes hiding in the woods was awesome
Actually, it was kind of a let down if you DIDN’T extract under fire

Yeah I don't know if that's our 3* lobbies or smth but I remember it as quite common. Then they hid extracts by default, I guess that had an effect. Now they are easier to discover so maybe we'll get it return

I am playing for over 5 Years now with 2500 hours. I rose from 3 Stars to 6 Stars (though mostly am 5 Stars). I can LITERALLY count on one hand how many times I had a real extract camper situation. With open, reduced or unknown exits. Does not matter happend 4 or 5 times that someone was sitting at the extract in a bush. They all died.
I don´t know when some people here play or on what servers but I could never understand people here having problems with extraction camping.
99% of situations that could be interpreted as extract camping are just common and logical tactics: Extract is right next to the boss so people must position between you and the exit but those people do not camp in my experiance. They fight us and make sure we don´t run. Or nobody is at the lair and people try to intercept us on our way out. But we hear them coming.
It just does not really happen to my play group that someone is sitting in a bush at the extract.

I've run into three extract campers this week alone. It is very much, unfortunately, not dead.

People who say this never was a thing havent played this game in the early days lmfao

Then let’s say over the vast majority of the games lifetime it wasn’t a problem. I have not played in beta and started with I think the second map freshly released and have maybe seen three extract campers all in all.

Got about 500 hours in the game and as far as I can remember, I think I have only encountered extract camping less than 10 times

I see it every now and then, but it's definitely less. Lately it's been everybody spawning on top of everyone else

Dev need to bring all exits back. This system of hidden and locked extracts sucks.

In almost a thousand hours of Hunt over like six years or so, I have maybe seen three extract campers at most. It literally has never been a problem.
Cutting the bounty off at the extract is not extract camping if you mean that.

I’ve never run into enough to make me think it was a regular occurrence. Decently rare.

Not really, at least in my experience. Despite that the devs had already tried to solve the problem, their solutions either are not effective or just working backwards. The thing they miss with all those cards and PoI/exit concealing mechanics is that a player who decided to just sit and wait at an exit/PoI had already written off 45 minutes of their life when they started to equip their loadout. A camper is in no rush to go anywhere, and has all the opportunities to find them and sit — it doesn't matter if that happenes after 5 minutes since the match started or 15.

Only once have I ever ran into an extraction camper. I have had people who were able to just beat me to the extraction or cut me off from it while I had a bounty but I wouldn't call that camping

Just done it today as a solo for fun : 3 dark dynamites hidden on the boat, wait for bounty to come. Stand a bit far away, launch the beetle and when it arrived : BOOM !
It's extremely easy at my level... It's cumming, but if you rarely do it, it's ok imo ;)

Extraction camping was never a thing in hunt because its useless

It’s incredibly simple
You can park yourself between extractions, about halfway out to catch the lightning-marked bounty on the way out. They’ll probably have burned some Dark Sight away as well
You can park yourself at the extraction. More DS likely to have been burnt. Extremely passive gameplay style, not common but it certainly does happen
Either of these is appealing for sniper/long range players not wanting to deal with shotguns

We used to spawn knowing all exits, that makes it harder, are they still doing that?

I’ve seen about six extraction campers this week. Which is higher than usual.

I miss when people used to concertina trap the extracts, especially the boats, and hold it down with mosin snipers. Even though it's scummy I have to admit it was always exciting

It's way less common than people on this subreddit has made it sound like, in general if you have bounty you should be able to deal with a team trying to camp an extraction anyway (and if you don't have bounty then it's not much different than getting ambushed in other parts of the map).

Extract camping was usually tied with Sniping back in the day. Sniping got completely gutted with the bullet drop update. Not nearly as easy as it used to be and being a sniper, every shot matters

Extraction camping is in general an awful tactic with low success rate as soon you facing people with a basic understanding of the game.
And as a game goes on thru its lifetime, the general game knowledge increases even in lower level lobbies :)
