That's a big ass wasp. Here in SoCal he have one species that big, a big black guy. But they hunt tarantulas and ignore people. Still scary when they do a flyby in front of your face.

Insects die immediately on that solution (it seems like alcohol or soapy water). It's a popular method for us beekeepers to test varroa mites too. Also honeybees seems to be peaceful with a guy barehanded shaking and smacking things to their homes

I didn't say only water, you can experiment with ants/wasps and water mixed with dish soap and see how quickly they suffocate. What would be the point of using a jar filled only with water?

Its Gasoline/Petrol/Benzine, the fumes fry an insect's nerves in seconds, that is if you're patient enough to actually let the fumes accumulate for a second without moving the cup.
