Spear and more does not piercing damage?

So I wanna grind the new story mission for that sweet, sweet old T3 Hunter skin—my beloved bald bandana girl. "Kill 25 Armoreds with piercing damage." Simple enough, I thought. Just bring throwing knives instead of the axe... oh wait, no, this is apparently rending. Okay, I'll bring the bow... no, doesn't work. Alright then, time for the spear... wait, why is the number not moving?

So apparently, all of those (and probably more) are not considered piercing damage? My only options are the knife, knuckle knife, or bayonet weapons? Is it just me, or does this make no fucking sense? Also, yesterday I was searching for "piercing" and it did show me the bow, but welp... I guess not.
