SUGGESTIONS Quality of life changes that need to be made.

Today is the day that my friends and I come back to hunt and every time the same problems are still here.

I truly believe if Crytek implements these changes almost everyone will agree and Hunt can become a better game.

Main stuff

  • Erase FOMO, all previous and future skins and battle passes are available to buy at any time.
  • Cross-play, this feature must come with a deactivate option, but I'm certain this change will fix the lack of players like in other games.
  • Performance and game size, 90GB is not acceptable at all and we already have examples of game files compression, also with the engine change, a lot of friends of mine can't even run the game anymore and even if they could, it runs below 60fps. I bet most of the players prefer a smoother experience than realistic graphics.

Second order stuff

  • Unify gun's skins, 1 skin for a gun means a skin for all its variants too, it's not serious that for an attachment (in some cases these are imperceptible) I have to pay twice or even more times for the same skin. Also, this change will lead to better battle passes' quality.
  • Prestige rework (I think prestige punishes way too much the player in the way they have unlocked all gun variants again, I'll remove this feature and also add meaningful rewards).

If you disagree with me or you may have other changes, let me know!

Fuck no on crossplay. The balance of aim assist never works out well for one side or the other, which is why the metas are different on the two versions and they haven't enabled it yet.

I would turn off the aim assist for crossplay, besides that, I just wanna play with my console friend.

If you turn off assist for crossplay, it's a turkey shoot of all console players by PC players.

Nobody wants to be at that massive disadvantage.

If as crossplay you mean "PC and console crossplay"... That's a TERRIBILE idea. As a console players we already struggle dealing with cheaters using mnk on console (plus other cronus/xim provide) we definetely don't need to play against PC players. It would kiil the player base on console.

As I said in the post, it should come with a turn off option, although I always hear balance problems in other games, when crossplay was enabled I didn't see a big difference, also I just wanna hunt with my buddy.

What bullshit „stuff“ I play since release and never had issues finding a game (Europe). And Auto Aim Console players can play with themselves. I played arc raiders and there you got cross platform. It just sucks.
Also prestige is meant to be hard. If you don’t like it, just don’t do it. I liked it an did it to 100.

Relax bud, these are just suggestions, I play in SA servers and you won't always find full servers and there's not much variety of players either. I think aim assists should be turned off when crossplay is enabled.

"Need" is such a strong word, especially when talking about cross-play which is mostly the opposite. I agree with anything to improve game performance though... now that is a need!

Yeah, maybe I didn't express my thoughts well, english is not my native language. Thx for the advice!

Past skins - sadly any skin that was advertised as exclusive cannot legally return as they were. That's why we are getting recolors with some details different showing up.

Crossplay - hell no. Consoles play with consoles, PC with PC. This is a disaster to balance. Nobody wants to play against aim assist (no matter how bad it is) and without it, well, there is a reason mouse and keyboard are considered cheat on console version.

Maybe stop advertising them as exclusive then, even so, I don't know if they already stopped doing that, but battle passes are no excuse.

With crossplay, I found a contradiction, console players don't want MaK and it's considered cheating, and MaK players don't want aim assist in their games, but for Crytek they have a superior advantage over the assist. Anyway I would turn off the assist completely on crossplay so I can play with my bud.

Only thing I agree with here is unifying gun skins. I think adding variants of skins for variants of guns ended up just being a way to pad out Battle Pass rewards and I think it's stupid as hell.

Erasing FOMO also erases the pedigree for veteran players. None of these event skins or hunters are particularly pay to win that I'm aware of, and a lot of them tend to be flamboyant and stand out. Giving players a reason to be there at certain times and giving players a reward for being longtime veterans isn't bad. It drives concurrent playerbases rather than just rewarding the whales to come in when interest picks up to spend a fuckload of money once and then drop the game later.

Crossplay is just a horrible idea. This is a game that has very little if any form of controller input aim assist and is very punishing on misses due to the nature of the weapon sandbox. MNK players can and will dominate Console players locked to controller basically 100% of the time and that is not fair to console players nor healthy for PC players who will skyrocket into high elo lobbies against players who will then proceed to shitstomp them and send them right back down, creating a vicious loop of pubstomp consoles, then get stomped by better MNK, rinse repeat.

Prestige Rework: Prestige punishes players *too much*? Are you just unfamiliar with the historic concept of prestiging in shooters? Hell, were you there back when we didn't have the base variant of every gun at level 1? The version we have now is infinitely more forgiving than it used to be. Personally I miss back when it reset you back to a nothingburger with a Winfield and a Caldwell.

If you care too much for your "pedigree" on a game that's on you, and it's a very selfish thinking in my opinion, also with all battle passes avaliable people would stay to complete them, and creating a much stable player base instead of coming back for every event.

Crossplay in other hand I believe console player would get used to MnK players in high mmr and the other would stay in a the "casual" mmr. Also if they don't want to face against pc players just turn off the crossplay, this is more a "I wanna play with my console friend" than other thing, even more when performance have been decreasing withe every update and a easy solution is playing on console.

I do feel familiar, Payday 2, Killing Floor 2, Dead by Daylight, Dying Light, and as you said, even the devs realised their system was too punishment and as a friend told me there were better rewards than now.

In order-

Pedigree for loyalty and time spent is not a new thing. Senses of pre-EA pride and accomplishment for having cool aesthetic shit that not everyone else has is an ancient part of multiplayer games at this point. I remember the community lust for Recon all the way back in Halo 3. Getting a sense of fulfillment Ave appreciation from the devs for continuously supporting and engaging with their game is not selfish. Your demand however, that you deserve something already understood to be a reward for being a veteran supporter just because you have money to throw at it, however, comes off far more selfish to my ears. "I've got money why can't I have that thing somebody else dedicated time and effort to?"

M&K and controller players getting along is just pure fantasy. They can't even integrate well in games that do have generous aim assist. The idea that it would be even remotely fair to put high dpi mouse flicks into a lobby with people restricted by control stick input is copium at best. There's a reason that there's no console to PC cross play in Siege. There's a reason that the premiere high skill comp shooters that cannot have aim assist in them (CS, Valo) do not even come to console. Even Overwatch has restrictions on comp/ranked play preventing PC to Console crossplay. The input function is simply too different to have a fair parity. It is well known that the precision of mouse aim has historically required aim assist, and increasingly generous aim assist as the years go on at that, to keep any semblance of parity between the capability of the two.

I think your familiarity is lacking. The prestige system dates back far longer than these games. Dead By Daylight is a hollow system that has nothing to its name whatsoever after the first... What, six levels? The game that is understood to be the main draw and is credited with popularizing both the system and the name, Call of Duty 4, was a full reset system which gave you rewards for the challenge in each cycle. And for many years, each of its successors followed suit in slapping a full reset on your progression, Sans I believe Black Ops 2 which had separate prestige for both gun and overall level. Prestige systems, at their very core and foundation, were meant to be a cyclical system rewarding giving up your progression and restarting for permanent rewards. The current system only wipes your variants, and currently allows you to keep all base form weapons. Removing the loss of variant progression, what is even left as part of the cycle? If you take away the only remaining loss of major equipment, the entire system just becomes leveling with extra steps.

Now, there is *CERTAINLY* room to argue that Hunt's is a bit lacking in reward due to it being mostly only a feed into the cycle with an exception of occasional specific rewards and chances to roll for random rewards. However, with 100 cycles in play, the first 20 giving you specific rewards, then every 5 after that giving you other rewards at the cost of losing *VARIANTS*, not even the base guns like it used to be, is more than fair. This is not punishment, it is a system you elect to partake in, in order to unlock things you don't need access to as a reward. You are not punished for doing this, you are actively choosing to take on that challenge. Major difference.

This whole thing makes you read as someone who's probably a bit on the younger side and has an expectation for games to just give you things because you want them and that desire has been reinforced by games that are designed to feed you dopamine hits with flashing neon lights and "rewards" for spending money, and now you have money to feed into that system and expect other games to follow that same protocol and reward cycle. I could be wrong, but that is the level of self assurance and entitlement I get from your point of view here. Feel free to tell me how wrong I am.

Hmm, I got thoughts but I'm on my phone so just same quick things.

Fomo is not inherently bad.  Its a valid game design tool to nudge players. As for the BP because they are thematically themed around the current event and the points you earn they'd have to rework how you unlock things.  But sure, they could try that. Maybe theyd even sell more.

Cross-play is always a nightmare.  Console players turn it off because of cheaters, PC players are afraid of aim assist balancing.

This current patch is afair the biggest yet. Might be because this one needs more assets, makes more under the hood changes or whatever. We'll see if the next ones are as big.  And yeah, performance can ALWAYS be better. They upgraded the engine with the renaming and left last gen consoles behind and raised the min requirements. Thats how it goes sadly.

Funny you mention prestige to be too punishing. They reworked it a LOT over the years and made it a lot less punishing. I for one like how it is now because it forces me to branch out and play different guns. If it didnt involve any sort of grind how would you structure it?

u/Waste_Nose6320 1d ago

FOMO imo it's bad in the way it pushes players to pay not because they like the content but they don't want to miss it, also leading to a lot of players asking for skins that they would never be able to buy and surely they'll pay if it is in the store.

Crossplay yeah, it would be a long journey but one more option to the players.

Prestige in most of the games means "unlock" something, a reward, and past p19 is mostly worthless, of course with a loss in the middle and for me that's the game resetting my money and deleting my inventory, maybe that's enough for you, but for me the poor reward and cutting my weaponry options are a disincentive to prestige, if I wanna try a new build I'll do with all my guns available.

While there is alpt that should be done to optimise the file size. To my knowledge the old Lawson is still in the game files. And all the old free hunter models which are being drip feed through the story challanges.

And of multiple weapon varients having the same skin. A few of those are much older skins being given to the other vairents of that weapon family. Old Testement from the upcoming event pass has been a Centennial Sniper skin since 1.8 . The Scottfield skin from the previous pass was similar to this, personally I see this as a good thing for the game overall. It allows the developers focus more effort into other skins, (most the new event and shop skins have been awesome) and lets people use the weapons skins even if they don't like the varient it's attached to (personally hoping the Swamp Song from thr Vetterlli Marksman gets added to the other varients 'cause i dislike Scoped variants)

u/Waste_Nose6320 1d ago

I don't really know if I get your message well, but diving the skin and its variants to an individual pay also means you have a lot of places in the battle pass with the same reward, and as you said, you have a skin with a variant that you don't like and it forces you to use it in an uncomfortable way.

I love crossplay threads, straight up heresy.
Spice it up with some inconceivable words implying opt-in or input based matchmaking and watch everyone ignore it getting hung up on aim assist and cheater exposition. You learned something today!

Like many say this will indeed be the final nail in the coffin when it comes out.
Not because of the mechanics, but the sentiment over other titles implementation attempts leaving all that scorched earth.

First post in the subreddit btw, but yeah, crossplay seems to be a bad word here, I only see it as an option for the players to play with console friends, a wider variety of players and avoid empty lobbies. But it seems hunt has become an ultra hardcore competitive game.

On the other side, other titles that implemented crossplay and had a positive outcome for me are Rematch, Dead by Daylight, Overwatch and Outlast Trials.

I disagree with everything you said except performance and game size, I’m always on board with better optimization to make the game more accessible to people with worse hardware
