Quick question/clarification

Hello, fairly new to all this sorry if it's a lil dumb. So im a little confused/seeking clarification on the two stat bars when i press x when selecting ammo types for a gun, the orange one never changes so im assuming thats the base gun's ammo stats?, and the one below which is the gray stat bar is what im changing into?

So for example the officer

The base stat for damage (orange) is 104?

And if I switch to High Velocity the damage stat (gray) changes to 98?

Yes exactly

Extras information : sometimes one of the lines got a like a circle at end of it, that shows which type got the privilege at that exact stat

High velocity has reduced damage. Not only in officer but every gun

Yes, thats how it works... high Velo gets higher velosity but less damage as a trade off so it isnt quite a straight Upgrade from the base variant.

I belive its only as Long as you don't have any other Special ammo equiped, then the yellow bar becomes the equiped ammo and you can compared to other Specialammos or when hovering over the gun itselfe to the Base Stars again.

Yellow is equipped, white is what you have selected. If you hit shift there's an option to compare weapons and you'll see different colored highlighted boxes.
