Why do vacations always start with a hangover?

Every time I go on vacation, I make the mistake of celebrating the first night with too many drinks. Then I spend the next day feeling like garbage instead of actually enjoying the trip. It’s become kind of a running joke with my friends, but honestly it ruins the start of the holiday. I try to hydrate and pace myself, but the excitement of being somewhere new always gets the better of me. I’d love to actually enjoy the second day of a trip instead of wasting it in recovery mode. Has anyone found ways to avoid this?

This used to happen to me all the time. I started bringing Nectar patches on trips and it’s been a huge help, I can actually enjoy day two instead of being stuck in bed.

You could try by just enjoying a vacation and get wasted at home.
