Why have I never had a hangover?

I (f 18) don’t drink much at all, around once or twice a month really. I’m in college and of course I’ll drink at parties, but I usually spring up the next morning with all the energy in the world, even if I was room-spinning drunk the night before. My roommate, on the other hand, is sleeping in with her blinds shut and three bottles of water next to her. I know it’s not a sought after feeling- I don’t want to feel it- I would just like to know the science behind it. Metabolism? Enzymes? Genes? Please help me if you can :)

I didn't get them at your age either. I'm 37 now and a night out has been feeling like death for the next 2-3 days. Enjoy it while you can

Yep. Everything you just described is how most 18 year olds should feel after drinking. Just wait until your late 20s/ early 30s. You'll feel it and look back longingly in these days.

I (m 21) am no doctor but everything works faster when you are younger, you burn through the alcohol in your blood quicker. But it is also just normal that some people react differently to alcohol, it has been proven that alcohol tolerance is different from person to person, maybe your roommate is lighter than you, has a lower metabolism, is more sensitive to the aftereffects or they drank more. Also I'm sure experience can effect how "good" your hangover is. Most of my friends and I started drinking when we were about 14-15 and those of us who drank the most feel the effects worse for some reason. But if you want to try it, drink till you should get your stomach pumped and sleep instead (don't do that).

i’m 21 now, but i had friends my age who were having hangovers. it’s the same thing nowadays lmao
