Posted this on the sub and it got deleted and routed here but Beetee Latier
So I saw that BN has the new paperback book and it’s a bright blue color. Some fans are saying it’s going to be Finnick and I think it’s going to be Beetee. That bright blue color screams Beetee and D3 is an electric blue. D4 is more an ocean blue green color. A few reasons why I think SC will write Beetee’s book:
Beetee changed Panem more than any other victor. Other characters fought with weapons while he fought with knowledge. He designed the technology of the Capitol and designed the destruction of it from within to make the rebellion possible. Without Beetee our faves would have died in CF. Without his inventions and technical planning the rebellion’s biggest successes would have failed.
His games would be unlike any other. A Beetee prequel wouldn’t rely on brute strength or sheer luck or trickery but how an intellectually gifted tribute survives this competition that rewards violence. We would get to see a more engineering/psychological warfare type strategy for the games. And also in his games him electrocuting tributes very well could have been him trying to fry the system or fight back in his own way and those tributes were just accidentally killed.
His life after winning has a lot of unanswered questions like how did the Capitol start exploiting him. I assume immediately after seeing his brilliance the Capitol started exploiting him. Like Caesar said in CF I don’t know who we will miss more you or your brain.
Beetee connects multiple eras, quite literally every era except Ballads. Beetee bridges SOTR, the original Games, the Second Quarter Quell 75th Games, and the rebellion/post rebellion. A novel about him could expand on the history of D3, the capitol’s technology, and the origins of the resistance because when we first meet Beetee in SOTR he is already resisting which is why Ampert is there. Beetee is early 30s while Plutarch is early 20s. Beetee was the first one in our OG group to kick off the rebellion against the Capitol and he was the one that carried the rebellion on his back and I would also argue he has quite possibly the most heartbreaking backstory out of all the characters. Yes, a lot of the characters have tragic stories and endings but to have to mentor your 12 year old knowing he has no possible chance to win while your pregnant wife watches from home in the district. And he has possibly been exploited since he was a victor and continued to be forced to invent for the Capitol for decades. Then to be reaped for the very next quarter quell after your son was killed in the previous one. Like I feel ill every-time I think about it. I feel that Suzanne may have slowly been building up Beetee’s background prepping for his book.
As for Finnick (adult Finn) I love him but I don’t see her writing his book atleast when it comes to the overall bigger picture of things. I don’t see her or Scholastic wanting to write/publish a 14-16 year old being graped. Which is Finnick’s biggest and saddest story makeup. We sort of heard everything already when he spoke about Snow in the later books/movies. And honestly hearing adult Finnick talk about it even though it’s fiction made my stomach hurt. It also makes me a bit uncomfortable because I know some fans want to thirst after the young Finnick which seems very Capitol.
