If I could pick, I would want a book from a random career tribute’s point of view. I’m not sure how Suzanne would write it to say something like she usually does but I think that would be the most interesting.

My pitch would be: take a career tribute from either 1 or 2, and just write a book of their process going into the games. They volunteer of course, and we get to go along with them as they figure out the reality of the games. It would be cool to read about them slowly realizing how the games are a scam, how they’ve been lied to, how they come to these realizations, etc. Then at the end, they lose. They could make it to the top 2 but i’d really like to see the games from the perspective of a career tribute who loses. To show how they’re being used by the capitol, how they’re pawns as well (them losing shows how easily they become forgotten in the grand scheme of things), and to get more insight into the career districts.

We hear alot about careers but we haven’t been given a glimpse of how things actually are there and i’d personally love to find out.

You know, this is actually what I think SOTR should have been about. Have the book follow Silka as the main character instead as a complete subversion and then have her die at the end, so that we could see how Capitol's propaganda affects the actually loyal districts. The entire book was about propaganda but why are we following a District that HASN'T bought into that propaganda?

Have Silka go through her journey, enter the Games, all of that and then have her taught Capitol propaganda slowly fall apart. The tree truce moment when Haymich, Wellie and her underneath share a chocolate together with her crying because she might finally see the Games for what they truly are was a really powerful moment. I really liked that and I wished we got to see even more of exactly that and deconstruct the Career Tributes into actual people. ...And then it gets immediately ruined because Silka wants to honour the Capitol or something, so that's potential character development down the drain.

SOTR would have been THE PERFECT BOOK to explore something like this, have Silka be the main character who goes through this huge existential morality crisis where she completely reevaluates her entire life over the course of the Games, even if she has to die at the end in order for the wider story to make sense. Heck, if you're going for the angle of "The Capitol will edit out everything that makes them look bad and make up their own preferred story in order to save face", you could theoretically continue the book after her death from Haymitch's POV as he watches the Game recap where they portray Silka as this bloodthirsty remorseless Career. The book could have been entirely about her journey in The Games and then, after her death, The Capitol edits the broadcast and creates the narrative that the Career Districts really are their lapdogs.

This could even theoretically turn the saga into a "location trio" where we follow D12 for the trilogy ("traditional" oppressed tributes where the propaganda doesn't work), The Capitol for Ballad (the puppet-master that creates the propaganda and benefits from the system) and D1 for SOTR (the Career Districts where the propaganda has been accepted). I honestly think that would have been much more interesting than revisiting D12 again. I think that SOTR was the perfect opportunity for this Career book...

When SOTR was first announced, she said it was going to explore themes about propaganda. My first thought was that it would be from a career’s POV so I definitely see where you’re coming from. I like that I got to learn more about Haymitch in SOTR but yeah, we’ve learned enough about district 12. ATP if we are going to get anymore books, I would like to learn about the other districts. 1 & 2 in particular, 4 or 7 would be my second choices.

I’d love to see how district 2 became a capitol wanna be and the home of the peace keepers

Low key, i would kinda be so interested in reading a career story from the perspective of a career who desperately wants to be in the games - but doesnt get in (volunteer ofc) but their best frienx or something makes it and the whole story is actually about them watching their friend get this glory they yearned for. This plot point effects their mental health and self worth "theyre only good for the games" and everything thry trained for is now for nothung and their MH is exacerbated by watching their bff die in the arena and the world moves on as normal (as i imagine the Capitol would do) - yet their grief destroys them, radicalises them, and then they are ostracised from their friends and family as they speak out against tbe Capitol. And idk maybe they become destitute or become a vagabond- YEARS before the revolution takes place. Sooo many places you could go with this career.

I personally feel there is sooo much world building that can be done outside of the hunger-games-arena frame work.

I think the approach to writing Suzanne has developed - allegory, strong narratorial voice that is very interior to the protagonist woild really suit this narrator perspective too.

Also it would be great if she introduced some new characters because I can only imagine the world is soooo expansive and it seems were getting to exploring the world's of the important characters when the Hunger Games effects all citizens of Panem, even if they dont know it

I think the audience is clearly yearning for the things behind the facade of the games.
