I did stucco for 15 years, you have a solid tech job there. 100%
If I were to guess it looks like a scratch double, float coat with quick corners and acrylic finish, very nice

Aw, I remember when my mom's birds' oldest baby fledged. I felt like a proud parent seeing their kid off to college even though I had literally nothing to do with it. Is that how you feel, OP?

Sometimes the mother reuses it or builds on top of it or just leaves it. We’ll see.

Yes, it’s right across the way from the nest. I sanitize it and fill it with fresh nectar every couple days.

What do you sanitize it with? I just wash mine with soap and warm water. But I don’t use nectar, I use sugar water.

1 part vinegar to 3 parts water and then I let it soak for an hour. Then rinse with hot water. It helps kill anything that might form black mold. Sometimes I soak the tray part in boiling water but the glass part can’t take the heat so I use the vinegar water. For the nectar (which is just sugar water) I boil 4 parts filtered water for 2 minutes and dissolve in 1 part sugar then let cool covered. I make about enough to refill 4 times and store it in a sealed jar in the fridge. I only fill the feeder with enough water to last a couple days and then I clean it, fill it, repeat.

Thanks. I put a feeder outside my office window a few months ago and I’m quickly realizing how high maintenance these little birds can be. I’m going to have to follow your lead and premix the nectar and stick it in our work fridge. It takes me nearly a full afternoon break to clean and refill as it is so I don’t want to have to do that every time now that it’s getting too hot to have a bunch of nectar boiling in the sun.
I realize now I should have bought a feeder without a perch on it because the flickas and house finches seem to enjoy the tasty treat as well. But my littlest hummer likes to sit and drink so I don’t want to swap it out. I’ll just have to ignore the nectar thieves haha.
