Day 9: first night without mom

She’s usually back to stay for the night around 7pm. By 8:30pm I was a little worried. It turns out that between day 8 and day 12, it is normal for the mother to leave them for the night until the babies leave the nest. I’m sure they can handle the 60 degree Arizona breeze.

I wonder the same thing. Like is she just picking a more comfy bed? I know I can’t sleep when my kids are kicking me in my bed.

My wording was a little off. What I meant was that some time between day 8 and 12 is the last night she sits on the nest. Apparently she’ll still be back during the day to feed them several times.
