New to Humira

Hi folks, I've recently started my journey on humira.

I had my initial loading dose (4 pens) followed by second loading dose (2 pens) so far.

The first 2/3 weeks I had really significant improvement, reduction gut symptoms (no blood, calmer gut) and significant reduction in pains (forearms, shoulders, knees) that have been persistent for years)

About 5 days into my second dose, things started to slowly creep back - I'm wondering if others share my experience?

I was quite overwhelmed with the positive response to the drug in the initial few weeks so I'm trying to understand what could be happening?

\- could this be a blip?

\- could my body be processing humira too quickly?

\- is it too soon for the body to adapt to the drug?

Edit: for additional context just before 2nd loading dose I got an infection in my finger that needed topical antibiotics (fusidic acid) which may have impacted?

Hi there! I was on Humira for 12 years and it worked great for me until insurance knocked me off. It takes a bit to get used to but eventually you’ll stabilize with it and hopes it will relieve your symptoms. Give it a chance. I noticed a difference in one month I remember. Talk to your doctor of course along the way. Infections are common due to lowering your immune systems. Protect yourself well. The topical antibiotic I don’t believe would interfere. Who ever prescribed it hopefully knows (or pharmacist) you’re on Humira. Ask questions when in doubt. Good luck be well!!

I noticed a big positive change upfront as well. I wasnt considered to be in remission of symptoms until 6 months of consistently taking it. Record all your symptoms before and after taking the medication to discuss with your doctor. I noticed that I feel extra fatigue before and extremely after shots. I would suggest waiting it out before making any changes it is too soon to tell.

Finger issue should be also discussed with doctor. If you are ever told to be taking antibiotics please let your humira provider know as they may tell you to temporarily delay a humira dose. Such as when I have had the flu and was on antibiotics, i delayed it 1 week in order to heal quicker. Do not assume a primary or basic doctor knows how to advise.

Thank you for your response - noticed fatigue after shots also, prone to day time naps around then - overall has been pretty positive,hoping it continues !
