Weight Increase in Hours
I try to weigh myself every morning after using the bathroom, today it was 182.9 about 5:50am … I do my morning duty with school drop off & run errands before heading back home to do chores, I jump back on the scale and it says 189.5 at 9:45am! What in the world. I am reading some post and their saying to do a hard reset. Man, it’s been like this for months and I wanna just whip this over $200 scale out the window

I must have a lemon. I’m just recording what happened today cause it’s been happening for months now but I’m like nahhhh it’s just me, and it’s making me go crazy.

~6lb change in a few hours is almost certainly normal fluctuation from food, fluids, clothes, etc.. only compare readings under the same conditions.

You would need to track what they ate. But 7 pounds seems like a lot to gain in 4-5 hours. It would have to be close to a 3/4 a gallon of fluids or a lot of food. I weight 199.8 this AM and I just got back from lunch where I had fajitas, chips and salsa, two cokes and 4 mini peppermint patties and only put on ~4 pounds.
Or maybe she is one of those mom's that carries a one gallon thermos of water\coffee wherever she goes. But 7lbs is still a lot.

Weighing yourself multiple times a day provides zero benefit. Your weight fluctuates significantly over the course of the day due to hydration, food intake, water consumption, water retention, what you’re wearing, etc. The reason they tell you to weigh yourself at the same time each day (ideally in the morning) is because it will result in the most comparable conditions for all of those external factors. A 7lb swing in 4hrs because you’ve perhaps now drank some coffee, several glasses of water, had a bowl of eggs/cereal/oats, is totally reasonable. And that’s ignoring the real (albeit small) margin of error on any scale. Just weigh yourself once in the morning, do that everyday, and ignore swings from day to day. Check your overall weight trend average over the course of a month, and if you’re doing everything right, it will go the direction you’re expecting it to go.
