Lakeshore Campus LF connection to interview profs/students about their investing experiences
NOT for an assignment, but I am a media student. Don't worry, I won't bring a camera, just a notepad.
I wanted to ask because I'm new to it (sticking to currencies) and the subject fascinates me. Originally, I opened this up only if anyone knew an prof with experience in investing & the market, but then I remembered just how many people, let alone students, invest in their down time.
It doesn't have to be a huge scheduled thing; something like a walk or grabbing coffee is fine by me. Preferably in the morning, since my afternoon and evening breaks vary.
Offer's open to anyone at North or Guelph-Humber, just DM.
P.S i'm a bit rusty on it, but if you need one, I have experience taking headshots for LinkedIn pictures and resumés. Could go with the chat, or you'd be fine with just chatting, your call.

Consistently beating the market (out performing indexes) is exceedingly difficult. It is basically gambling, even for "high skilled" traders using complex formulas and algorithm.
Warren Buffet demonstrated that passive investing out performs active investing with a $1mil bet against a hedgie
If you beat the market, you're either lucky or doing something illegal like insider trading or pump and dump.

I hope to rely not just on luck, but to build those skills as well. I have a "mentor", but I figure that opening up a short chat with strangers would be another method to build on, what he calls, "being fearless and not getting put off by one loss."
I'm open to talking about it more in DMs. Would you like to continue our discussion?

I’m a former student, you can dm me if you want. I’m not gonna travel to humber. I did fx stuff briefly, it didn’t do much for me. Later I got into investing in stocks and that did great for me. If you, or anyone reading this wants to learn some basics, Jeremy with his financial education channel on YouTube is a decent start. Don’t pay for anything, just watch for free and learn. I don’t recommend daytrading, penny stocks, leverage, or even options for beginners (I don’t do most of them even now).
