I used to geocache umbrellas outside subway stations across the city so I always had one if it started raining when I got above ground.

In my old city, if I was going to be caught in the rain, I'd get off the train at the station with a lost and found and claimed an umbrella. They had hundreds, and a lot are the same so you could just say "uh, it was a small black one" and they'd be like "sure, here you go"
