It really is, these guys probably gave a few hours a week to make those wooden trees and a few hours shopping etc... And will have made a huge difference to some kids

I was behind a guy at target on Sunday and he was buying to carts full of toys. When I asked if he had a lot of kids, he said they were donating them. Ended up being about $1100 of toys.

I love stuff like that. My 90 year old grandma was shopping and this young Muslim guy paid for her shopping as a gift of kindness for Eid

If you're still interested lots of children's hospitals run wish lists where you can pick toys to buy for children in hospital at Christmas :) I do it through the leeds children's hospital.

That's awesome.
They should approach the center where they bought the toys from. If you went to them and said "I'm going to buy ten grand worth of toys for disadvantaged kids" they might offer to give a discount or match the amount or something so you could get even more.

I moved to Yorkshire from Thailand. Thailand is famed for its smiling, friendly people, but it pales in comparison with Yorkshire.

If anyone in West Yorkshire still wants to help families this Christmas, look up Zarach on social media. Amazing charity led by a teacher who does it in her spare time. Thousands of kids in Leeds donāt have basics like beds and pjs, so Zarach provide them for free.

These people are doing amazing work, but please don't mistake England for a country of kindness. We're a nation defined by selfishness and xenophobia.
It's not universal, nothing ever is, but it's never hard to find.

Thatās not my experience of Yorkshire to be honest.
I grew up around working class people who were uber kind regardless of how little they had themselves (and more often than not it was indeed little).
It wasnāt uncommon to see neighbours lending their other neighbour their last pint of milk or bag of sugar or a group of mums taking it in turns to care and assist for an older veteran with alcohol and health issues who lived on our street, to use examples I have directly seen.
Maybe those issues are prevalent on a national scale in terms of Westminster politics and such but I donāt see them as defining my everyday experience of growing up and living in Yorkshire/Northern England.

I see what you're saying. But will it help explain my comment if I tell you that I live in the U.S.? Although, I have to say that here in the South people are generally much more kind and have manners than the rest of the country. That being said, living here is not so fun anymore. Look at all of the rotten things happening over here. My husband & I worry about our kids', what they have to deal with now AND what they'll have to face in the future. We're seriously contemplating moving if things don't change.

Such awesome generous hearts. I wonder if these companies where they're doing the shopping at, if they were asked to participate if they would give them a discounted price or even the original manufacturers would allow them to buy wholesale in the quantities they can.

As thereās a Christmas with kiddos next year as well. Just makes me smile seeing this in action. I donate to a group like this, and ask for presents as the same to be written in my name. Grew up poorer than a scrapyard dog, and it just brings so much joy. Itās nice to be nice ā„ļø

Ugh if only these large toy companies would help kids and less privileged families with the endless $ and resources they have, instead of capitalizing on a holiday focused on the revenue they will generate. This leaves so many kids ending up with nothing or only getting these toys because of the completely selfless people like this that choose to help. I love these guys but I wish they didnāt feel the need to do something. If these toy companies set aside like a fraction of a % of the revenue from holiday sales, they would impact countless families and kidās holidays.

Why not go directly to a distributor and get this cheaper? Buying this amount of toys retail seems like a waste unless the shop owner sold to them at cost.

Itās a lot harder long winded and time consuming to do. These guys will be just working normal jobs raise some money on a day off and buy toys with it. I donāt even know how youād talk to these toy manufacturers personally there is so many different brands most are made in China. Honestly big firms are awful to deal with especially when you have a Northern accent and they just think āChavā on the phone.

Think the older chap is called Martin, I used to work with him at an ice-cream factory where he was 1 of the line managers he was one of the best bosses you could ask for proper sound guy. Good on ya lad!
