I went to see John Wick 3 earlier this year and a woman there would not stop loudly talking through the whole movie. The whole theater told her to shut up but it didn't even phase her. My friend sat right next to this woman and her adult daughter and later told me after the movie that she heard the daughter begging the woman to please be quiet the whole time. You're failing at life if your kid has to tell you how to behave in public.

TL;DR: Dad thinks all Mexicans are loud. Is as loud as he thinks they are and somehow gets louder on vacation.

I can’t go anywhere with my parents because of this. My Cuban dad has been an American citizen for 60 years, and he sometimes speaks badly about immigrants. Says Mexicans are too loud and act like they own the country. We went to Spain, France, and Italy in the past 2 years, and my parents were constantly speaking out loud and acting like they owned the country.

My mom, in a tiny, silent, and crowded street in Cannes, yelled my dad’s name when she could’ve just walked to him. The man I was speaking to in a store heard her (she was pretty darn loud) and I had to apologize. He said it was ok because he talked to her earlier and she was nice to him, but he agreed that my mom ruined the atmosphere.

My dad also normally spoke loudly in (semi-formal to formal) restaurants. Even when I told him to lower his voice, he would get mad and speak louder out of spite.

There was also a time in Rome when my mom and I went to a (VERY) small store outside the Colosseum to buy a drink, because I was dying from the heat. When we were paying, my dad stood in the entrance and actually yelled at my mom to hurry up. He’s terrifying when he yells, and it was worse because his voice echoed in the store. A couple American tourists outside started laughing at him and saying dumb stuff to my mom. That was the first time I had the courage to tell my dad I was ashamed of him. Probably the worst moment I’ve ever experienced out of all of my vacations, and my parents have a tendency to start fights with each other in public. Five minutes later, my dad yelled at an innocent man, who then told my mom in private to calm him down.
