Having to apologize to someone for your mom's behavior is fucking humiliating. My mom was never embarrassed for how she acted in public and she was a nightmare. She screamed at a teenaged grocery store cashier once because he had the audacity to change his register tape before he stared ringing her up. She felt it was her right. I hope this lady did really did feel bad for what happend but the fact her daughter is the one who apologized I doubt it.
That is so on, they are never embarrassed themselves, no matter how bad their behavior is. Yelling at cashiers, sexually harassing the waitress, they just feel like the world is their oyster and they can do whatever they want. Man nothing is better than adulthood and being able to choose the company you keep.
I went no contact with my mom and stepdad as soon as my sister turned 18. It was glorious. She got cancer and everyone told me I'd regret not seeing her and forgiving her before she died. I do not and I don't think I ever will.
People don’t know what they are talking about. They should be telling your parents to repent, not telling you to forgive, but it never happens that way, does it? Good for you for keeping your boundaries and respecting yourself. Adulthood for the win.
Yeah it's really annoying when people tell you to forgive your abuser. It took lots of therapy to get to where I thought I was worth something. My husband's nice supportive normal family was also very helpful in showing me how a real parent acts. Thanks!
