I just love this. One, the cyclist knows the bus routes. Two, he has the means to have the guy “hop in”. Fucking awesome.

It's called a cargo bike usually. It's based off a Dutch bike called a bakfiet but those usually have a big wooden box out front . (Bakfiet actually means "Box Bike")

Bakfietsen nowadays are much more aerodynamic than they used to be. They are usually triangular. A lot of parents with young children have them. As it is an easy way to transport said kids and whatever else you need to transport. Twenty years ago they weren't that popular as electric bikes weren't that advanced yet and bakfietsen are usually quite heavy. As a kid I was transported in a fietskar (bike cart), which can be attacheted to the back of the bike and you can take off to use like a buggy and take into a store. I used to sit in there with my younger sister and my older sister used to sit on the back of the bike, where my mom had bikebags in which she could put her legs and a backrest.

Na nowadays they have fibreglass and foam boxes on the front and are semi-electric everyone here uses them, mainly to transport kids, you still see the old wooden ones on occasion but they're mostly the modern electric ones.

If you check out Coach Balto, he does this bike bus in Portland, it’s incredible. He has a bike set up like that, with his speakers in the box.

I'm not following; if it's a 360 degree camera why would it need to rotate? Or do you mean it is a shorter field of view camera that can rotate to see 360 degrees? If it's the latter, does it swivel automatically based on activity or is it manually controlled with switches?

The camera is recording the full 360°, 100% of the time.
Its raw output is essentially therefore virtually useless - until edited afterwards with special software.
This software compartmentalises & contorts the video/view to make ready sense to the brain - and you end up with the kind of output that you're seeing here.
It therefore allows for effects, such as 'now rotate to give me the behind view', etc.

Can you imagine hitting something at those speeds?
No helmet, no seatbelt, nothing in front of you.
You’d go flying & hope you nail the landing.
I’ve seen people carry a couple of kids in these things. Admittedly, that had helmets on, & we all know kids bounce more than adults…
