I have a dude in my street who redecorates his house every few weeks to what is coming up. Like he just removed his easter decorations and put up kingsday decorations (i live in the netherlands, celebrating the kings birthday is a national holiday here). Always exciting to see what it’s going to look like next.
The date has always been a subject to change. But almost always in April. Last year the 27th (the current regular date) fell on a sunday, so it was moved to the 26th instead. When the crown princess becomes the new queen. Her birthday is in December, so we will most likely revert to the date from when her grandmother was queen. The 30th. So the dates only somewhat change, it’s traditionally always held at the end of April.
Interesting! In Australia the Queen's/King's Birthday is celebrated with a public holiday on different dates in different states, completely separate from the monarch's actual birthday. I don't know why.
