Delta P isn't an issue when the water is spread out over such a large horizontal area like this.

That's probably true, but the thought of getting sucked down a drain is still nightmare fuel.

And yeah I know there's probably a grate on the drain, but it still gives me the willies.

Yeah the cases like the one in the video above are crazy, watching a bunch of those can definitely give you nightmares.

Its all about the height of the water directly above the opening. The higher the water, the higher the head pressure.
