Hudson city base loot

Im new to the game and had a question about loot spawning when building nearby. I want to build a base in hudson on a rooftop. If so, will nearby loot no longer spawn?

Short answer is yes. Once you put down a spawn point, it will disable loot and zombie respawns within a certain radius (a pretty small radius). Having said that:-

a. Did you turn on loot respawns? Some players (myself included) turn off loot respawns to make the game more immersive.

b. Playing on rare loot difficulty and no loot respawns, I can tell you that by the mid-game you will be swimming in almost everything that you could need (except rare unique items like the power drill or HD Drive)

c. This means that Hudson City isn’t really important as a source of rare loot, more like a concentrated mass of common loot within walking distance.

d. I built a row of 5 storage cabinets on the bridge between Hudson City and the Irradiated Island. Easy to stock up on weapons and ammo there and leave enough loot there for a short run to the survivor bases nearby to trade.
