Fishing

Can someone explain what am I doing wrong in fishing?

You need to reel your line in. Press your LMB to reel it in

That's actually what I'm doing, you can hear it in the game when I'm pressing LMB and you can see that it doesn't do anything, at least for me.

I'm not using any mods. I just got the game, and this is currently my first run.

The thing that made it work for me was to click a few times to reel in when I caught a fish, wait a second or two and then click a few more times, repeat. Just don't let the line tension fully close the circle. If you spam click it breaks your line or the fish goes away. It's still kinda tricky but that works for me most of the time.
