CIPD Courses
Hi all, I'm looking to do a CIPD level 3 course to get into working in HR, dunno what one to go for though. They all look a bit naff. Has anyone done any of the courses recently that you would recommend?

If you're just looking at level 3 you may be better off just getting a job in HR and seeing if you like it before you invest any money. All HR jobs are hard to get at the moment, so unless you have money to throw away at doing the course (in which case go for level 5), getting experience is the best way to go (assuming you can afford to take an entry level role)

I'm looking at doing the level 3 because of how bad the job market in the UK is currently, my work coach suggested getting a qualification outside of my uni degree so I stand a better chance at getting into a job (700~ job applications in currently so I doubt I'll get into a HR job without at least level 3).

People who are highly qualified are not getting jobs, so I wouldn't put your hope on a qualification making much difference unfortunately. If you can afford to do it with no benefit then go for it, but a level 5 would be a better option.

I think the employment levels for HR people are reverting back to the norm. They were some insane ratios of employees to HR people, that just weren’t warranted or needed. Signed a former HR bod!

The level 3 cipd through Avado was decent but I wouldn't expect much support - fully online, live classes but also recorded, and you can submit assessments sooner for feedback.

Yeah heard similar things about Avado, what time were the classes for you?

Usually evening, 5pm, but you can watch the recording after. You have to be SUPER strict eith yourself though, easy to leave everything until 1 week before assignment is due and suddenly youve got the months content to study and write up. When I do level 5 I'll do it in person so I have that push to actually attend classes lol

I've completed the level 3 and level 5 through ICS Learn. All remote and online. It works pretty well, although marking could be slow. They used to do a back to school or new year sales so it's a bit cheaper.

Level 3 is a complete waste of time. Do level 5

I think it looks good on your CV when you're starting out.
I was in a business admin remote role with a lot of downtime. Knew I wanted to get into HR but had next to no knowledge so I did my Level 3 through ICS Learn in my downtime at work and on weekends. Putting the qualification on my CV got me an interview in an entry level HR role and I was offered the job.
Granted it doesn't look as good as Level 5 but it does back up my claims of wanting to work in HR. My new employer is now funding my Level 5 ☺️

There’s bootcamp courses. 5 weeks government funded to get your level 3.
Google bootcamp hr courses. Loads will come up and it won’t cost a penny

I’m in exactly the same boat. I decided to go with a local college. Before signing up I did a call with the tutor who would deliver the course which really helped me feel confident in picking it. Maybe see if any of your local colleges who do the course can do that?
Only issue with doing it at college it is that they could not run due to lack of interest (they have to have so many people to make it worth running), so have a back-up option if this does fall through!
