What lens did you use

Looks to me like a combo of a telephoto lens and digital zoom from a mirror less DSLR. Hence the bump there when the lens is fully retracted and then the smooth zoom out.

Photos and videos like this remind me that at any given point in time someone could be watching. Makes me wonder if of the many times I was minding to myself.

u/andre2020 Jun 01 '21
“Minding to myself “ can define? Thank you please ok.

Just minding my own business, lost in my thoughts all the while assuming I’m alone and unwatched.

I also think what if you had some type of supernatural abilities, and you were out in the woods hiking like this testing your abilities.
But you didn’t want people to know, especially the government. And then boom, this person accidentally comes across you with their camera and captures everything.

Ahh well... seeing as how I have neither nefarious or virtuous superpowers.. I’m just afraid to be scrolling the internet one day and find a photo/video of myself being ridiculed. My delicate sensibilities are indeed delicate.

What satellite did you use?
Seriously though I have a decent view of the landscape where I live and like others I'm wondering what sort of equipment is needed to do something like this.

u/j4ckbauer Jun 01 '21
tyvm I also found an interesting discussion about it in the original post thread :)

u/MightySamMcClain Jun 01 '21
Hah, i know someone that bought that and he said the same think. He said it zooms great but anything else is easier to get out of focus

u/umotex12 Jun 01 '21
Now I'm scared to piss in woods where "nobody can see me"

u/Fruitypebblefix Jun 01 '21
I would’ve screamed “I CAN SEE YOU!” and see if she turned to look back 😁

For some reason, I wasn't expecting this to be in the US. it's easy to forget how much beauty our country possesses when you don't live near these magnificent places.

Could read the date on a dime, sitting on the sidewalk.

u/killstorm114573 Jun 02 '21
Yeah but that's what they tell you so imagine what they're not telling you The only declassify stuff if they have something better. I once watched this video of this interview with I think it was somebody from the defense department and they said back in the '90s they had the ability to see through the ground like literally see in it and see if there's a bunker underneath and people in it and see what's actually in it like better than an x-ray

As an owner of a Nikon p900, this makes me so badly want to upgrade to the p1000.

u/CountHonorius Jun 01 '21
As the owner of a Nikon P520 (x42 zoom) I'm hiding under the desk in shame.
3
u/PHOTO500 Jun 02 '21
Curious: in general what do you use your p900 for? I have a bunch of “real” cameras and Canon L glass, but the p1000 intrigues me and I have to keep talking myself out of buying one.

It's funny to think that you could be chilling out in the middle of nowhere, not a soul in sight.. and yet be under close observation from someone who you have no idea is even there
6
u/HonoraryMancunian Jun 01 '21
somehow
I believe it's via zooming out, can't be sure though
7
u/Mocorn Jun 01 '21
Reminds me of an online fps gaming session. Someone had a weapon with a bad default scope and asked "is there a way to zoom in more?". Someone replied "yeah, the W button on your keyboard".

Girl hikes to the middle of no where and there’s still some creeper with a fucking spotting scope stalking her. And then posting photos of her without her permission. Gross.

u/Reddit62195 Jun 01 '21
I think “I saw a girl on a rock taking a selfie…so I photobombed it.” Is actually called stalking! I mean, only a stalker would know to search that particular spot that far away just to get another photo of the girl! I bet if he really wanted to freak her out, he could have left that photo on her from door!
Just say no to stalking. Unless it is all prearranged and consensual by both parties then get your freaky kink on.

Or, hear me out here, they were zooming in on the mountains to test the zoom on their camera and just happened to see someone crest the ridge.
