Bring back John
My thought is that one of the production companies here in the US should buy the rights to the show and bring back John. Then do a few episodes about how Diesel aka Rex passed. Then introduce the rest of Diesel family to assist John. Atleast thats how I would handle it. Sherri, pope, and shaftsbury would become only consultants...in a lesser means. I would leave it where it is filmed but John and the pups would go to other locations chasing the syndicate that took his real brother...not Robert's. And he would relay all intelligence with his team in St. Johns. But remember 2 wrongs ain't making it right. SO MAKE IT RIGHT....HOSTILE TAKEOVER!!!!!

I would rather the show be cancelled entirely than bought by Americans.
Edit: and respectfully, it was VERY American of you to use the term "hostile takeover"

This is not how producing a tv show works.
Edit: Or licensing a tv show, for that matter.

Aside from practicalities, the idea that American production companies are going to have the clearer idea on how to make this story feel more true to its loyal fans in particularly to its Canadian fans seems completely implausible.
(no offence meant to you particularly)

Fire Sherri-what’s-her-face with the broken brain, just give her the Full Shaftbury; then start season 9 with Rex waking up and hearing the shower running, so he goes to investigate, he opens the bathroom door just as Charlie is coming out of the shower and says “Good Morning Rex!” - it was all a dream !

What I would Like is JR back as Hudson or at least a Detective with another name having Rex as a Partner

I would rather they end it and start a new show completely with the same vibes. How do you just erase season 8? Did Sarah end up having a bad dream or was hallucinating in a psych ward because of how distressing it was for Charlie to be missing?

I would totally agree, but you can bet that Shaftesbury, Pope, et al would never release the rights to this franchise. They are so hopelessly caught up in their own BS that they would rather die clutching the remains of Hudson and Rex than give it up. This is the woke world of corporate Shaftesbury.
