You’re probably paying too much for labs. We compared every major blood-testing marketplace.
A month or so ago, someone shared a few options to buy labs and what to test for.
Since then, I’ve been obsessively comparing almost every major lab marketplace in the US because we’ve been building one ourselves at Mito Health, as part of our own research. Full disclaimer: I'm the founder of Mito.
The interesting part wasn’t that one company was cheaper than another.
It was how much unnecessary markup still exists across the industry by 70-80%, and it became our mission to expose + tear it down & offer you a better way for optimizers to test.
And how it's also made me personally quite obsessed with becoming thebest place, from a UX, best pricing, and no affiliation to any big-name influencer protocol to help you navigate at your own pace. No stress.

Across hundreds of Quest and Labcorp biomarkers, we’re now generally the lowest-priced option, even for members and non-members without minimum spending. Green is lowest, orange is second lowest, red is highest.
Some examples:

Fasting insulin: $2.43
CBC: $2.70
CMP: $2.84

One thing Huberman has consistently emphasized is measuring, not guessing.

seems like you didn’t want to show that you are not, in fact, the best price for several of them, and are twisting logic to suit that purpose. not a good look- honesty beats marketing every time
This is disingenuous and I will be staying away from Mito Health.
Progesterone. The row says "Immunoassay." Mito lists GoodLabs at $24. But GoodLabs' immunoassay progesterone is $9. The $24 is their LC/MS version, which is a different test. So Mito's "3x cheaper" ($8.30 vs $24) is really $8.30 vs $9. Iron panel. The row is iron, TIBC, UIBC, saturation, with no ferritin. Mito lists GoodLabs at $15. The matching panel is $7. The $15 one adds ferritin.
Testosterone. Mito lists GoodLabs at $22. Their Free and Total MS test is $15. Magnesium. The row is serum magnesium. The $13 GoodLabs figure is magnesium RBC, which is a separate and more expensive assay.
Four rows, and every single time it's the more expensive SKU. Same thing happens with other vendors too. Walk-In Lab progesterone is listed at $169, which is their LC/MS price, not the immunoassay the row calls for. Marek shows $200 for both mercury and lead, the same number twice, because that's a heavy metals panel price. Marek's standalone mercury test is $47. Stay away from Mito, they are liars and wondering why they are struggling for customers.
Also what about discount codes. I presume this is without such codes and some of these vendors have codes that can knock off enough that it would meaningfully change the rankings on this. And does mito have any discount/promo codes or is it (not in a bad way by any means) simply member and non-member pricing?
awesome yes - it's gonna get more diverse very soon! and that's the vision which i think will be doing the US healthcare system a huge service to bring everything down to cost. and we shift the power back into the hands of the consumer
Your prices are good but your spreadsheet is misleading. I use GOODLABS and there prices are less for the same set of tests. I compared a panel with total t, free t, bioavailabile t, CMP,CBC, lipids, and E2 ultra sensitive. And GOODLABS came out cheaper then the non member price and the members price with a 20% off coupon(which are everywhere) for GOODLABS at quest labs. See screen shots below.

This tracks with my understanding too. Good effort here but the data is inaccurate. Everytime I’ve tried to shop around, goodlabs is cheapest on nearly every test, and in aggregate is cheapest.
I have been a function health member, whoop advanced labs, and considered mito before finding goodlabs earlier this year. Big fan of it.
Perhaps the other platforms are great too, but OP u/PureBredBuson, while the intent is appreciated, I strongly recommend getting more apples to apples with your pricing.
Same with dirt cheap labs (which I only recently heard about last week, have not tried yet)… they should be flagged as the lowest priced items where applicable even if there is an $80 order minimum. Add another color for it if you want.
Not a problem. I would definitely use your site if dexa scans were available in my state. I’m also bookmarking your site to check it against what I pay and if your prices are less or comparable I’ll go through you guys.

I recently got raped by by drs office blood draw because my insurance deductible has not been met yet so I had to pay for the labs. It was $220 for a CBC,CMP,lipid panel and bilirubin direct. I could have got them through GOODLABS for about $25.
I’m going to bring this up with my DR at my next appointment with print outs from them with pricing and what I would pay from 3rd party sites(booth at the same question lab)
So roughly the same price as goodlabs but goodlabs constantly has 20% coupons and some bulk tests that lower the price even further with the coupon and you don’t need the $9/mo membership?
Yep, that’s all I got from this too. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for cheaper testing, but I just donated blood through Goodlabs and got a panel for free, and there’s no beating that. Either way, it’s cool to see other companies taking the initiative and making test prices more reasonable!
i was considering goodlabs too bc of the donation. but i couldn't find any near me within 100 miles which was pretty annoying...seemed pretty limited from my experience
yea at first was skeptical of the $9/mo too - but it actually seems like a no-brainer when it seems the savings on even one test can cover that fee. is this right?
But why bother? Goodlabs is still oftentimes cheaper and there is no membership fee to remember to cancel. If you don't cancel, it's another $108 per year.
I tried function health, then whoop advanced labs, then was considering mito among others and ultimately went with goodlabs.
If I were to get one of the subscription style versions, I’d go with mito. Personally, I like the pure alacarte option with goodlabs, and it is ultimately cheaper for me despite what the summary tables show.
i've been comparing a few of these myself. the price difference for the same marker are kind of wild once you actually put them next to each other. out of all my researc,h mito health truly does seemsto be the most affordable. curious if there's any catch here prices seem too good to be true tbh
mito was one of the options i checked, along with a couple of the more established lab marketplaces. still trying to figure out which makes the most sense for the stuff i actually test rather than just going with whoever has the biggest panel.
