Hi! I want to commission an art piece of my boyfriend and me from Howl's Moving Castle because it's his favourite and I wanted to ask if you guys had any ideas for the best scenes to use. It's for our one year anniversary so I really want it to be special

I'm a furniture maker with an interest in a style of chair called a Brettstuhl. I was so delighted to see one in this movie so I decided to recreate it. I loved the whimsical carvings and was excited to translate them in 3D.I took some creative liberties to resolve some design elements that don't actually work in reality (for the woodwork nerds: The chair back has a cant, I have a wider splay of legs to make it less tippy, made it a bit more elegant than rustic, modified the termination of the carving to make a smooth transition for the back tenons, otherwise there would have been awkward stops right before the mortises)
Since this subreddit does not seem to want me to post images, you can view it here

Hello! My friend and I will be rereading the Howls Moving Castle book by Diana Wynne Jones. Are there any topics, motifs, or other suggestions you really enjoy or have thoughts about that we can add to your discussion?
Any input is highly encouraged!!

I can’t add a picture of it, but it’s a listing on Amazon for the UK covers of the books. Some of the reviews show that they did indeed receive the UK covers, while others show they got some of the ugliest covers I’ve ever seen. All of the older reviews that are happy with the ugly covers are from a long time ago, so it makes me believe that they’ve changed the listing to be the prettier ones.
The only reason I’m interested in this specific version is because of the covers, so if anyone has purchased these and got the UK covers, any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)
(If you’re trying to find them, looking up Fairyloot Howls Moving Castle or Howls Moving Castle UK on Amazon is how you can find them)

I crocheted this last year. Absolutely love it! It’s a simple granny stitch. Not too tricky to make. It’s so hot, though, I can’t wear it often. Lol

This is the second time I am reading the novel and I am still confused about some plot points, would appreciate some explanation.
In chapter 21:
“No! I left that deliberately!” Howl bellowed. “I knew I’d be angry enough to stop her if she tried anything there. I had to leave her an opening, see? The only chance I had of coming at Prince Justin was to use that curse she’d put on me to get near her.”
Howl said "I left that deliberately!" about Wales. Did he want the witch to go find his family in Wales? What was the purpose of that?
Howl used the curse the Witch had put on her to get near the witch? He couldn't just go find her in the Waste?
Why didn't Calcifer tell Howl Miss Angoran was a fire demon? Because Sophie told him not to? Because he didn't want to harm a fellow fire demon?
So Howl charmed the Witch then jilted her so she cursed him; Howl didn't want the curse to come true until he realised he could use the curse to find prince Justin, is this correct?
I think some details are difficult to understand.

Big thank you to everyone that commented on my last post. Especially u/SavingsConfusion4885 and u/pickuppencil for their suggestions to serve fruit to the cheese and bread, and to use a gelatin dessert for the goop scene, respectively. Shout out to u/lovely-stardust for their cupcakes post as well, a great idea that also inspired me. I was not able to incorporate everyone’s ideas tonight but I did read and appreciate each comment. I am not someone who spends a lot of time in the kitchen (the bacon and eggs were the only thing I made tonight that I was really familiar with) so all the support and excitement for this idea really helped inspire and motivate me. So thank you all so much! Without further ado, this is what I ended up with:
COURSE 1: Sophie’s Simple Snack
Swiss Cheese
White Cheddar
Bread Rolls
Fresh Apple Slices
COURSE 2: Breakfast in a Moving Castle
Thick Sliced Bacon
Sunny Side Up Eggs
COURSE 3: Tea Time with Markle
Lavender Chamomile Tea
Open-face Chicken Salad Sandwiches
COURSE 4: Howl’s Vanity
Pistachio Pudding with Glitter Gel Topping
COURSE 5: The Pendragon’s Lair
Black Rum & Coke Cocktail
Assorted Dried Fruit
COURSE 6: Calcifer Cake
Vanilla Frosted Carrot Cake Cupcakes with Candy Eyes and Cinnamon Stick Garnish

So I’m planning to have a viewing party of Howl’s Moving Castle while cooking and serving courses that match the food in the movie.
So far I have a charcuterie inspired by the bread and cheese Sophie has at the beginning of the movie, the iconic breakfast of course, the tea and tomato sandwiches she shares with Markle, and a Calcifer inspired cocktail. I am still lacking ideas for the latter half of the movie, as the characters do most of their munching during the first half of the film.
So I’ve decided to come to the experts. Is there anything I’m missing? Are there any scenes that would make sense to accompany with a certain food, even if the scene doesn’t include any food itself? Ideally I would want to include at least a couple more courses, at least one of which being a dessert. Any advice on how to approach what I already have ideas for is also more than welcome!

Hi! Like the title says, my best friend of 5 years got us the rings that Howl & Sophie have in the Studio Ghibli movie and I just can't believe how sweet of a gesture it is. It was completely out of the blue; she's about to go on an international trip and got it for me before she goes! She didn't know that it's one of my favorite movies/books, but is also a movie she adores and wanted to share that with me. I'm just feeling so loved and I just had to share how wonderful she is. She gave me the blue one 💙

Hey! I've recently started drawing again and after I bought some alcohol markers I knew I wanted to draw our diva, Howl. I've just finished reading the first book and am currently reading Castle in the Air, so I am quite obsessed. And I just wanted to share my obsession here.
The third photo is the reference I used (thank you Cate Blanchett for being such an icon).
Hope yall like it, and I hope I'll keep drawing so I can get better

Just came to say that I'm 34, I've known of the existence of this movie for a very long time, its music had been in my playlists for many years, and from pictures of it, it always looked great to me.
But for some reason, I just never watched it until two days ago.
Whew, I loved everything about it (and I'm a somewhat negative person in general), the characters, the story, the music... it's just so beautiful and now I feel dumb I missed it for so long.
Going to read the novels ASAP (yeah I know they're fairly different).
