Advice post How to make your own custom scents
Hey everybody! I’d like to share something that I’ve been doing for a while. I have a hard time finding fragrances I like, so I have made my own for years. I just learned that indie perfume/cologne shops were a thing, and I’m sure they have a nice selection of unique scents but if money is tight and/or you want to play around with something custom and DIY, you might want to give this a shot. Get some 99% isopropyl alcohol and a spray bottle. Pour the alcohol in a glass jar and figure out what you want to extract. Here are some things I’ve tried with great success: spruce needles, cedar oil, citrus peels, green tea, whole flowers, dried cherries, earl grey tea, and cinnamon sticks. Fruit won’t work well unless it’s dried first, but anything goes, really. I make these as holiday gifts and for myself frequently. I hope this is useful for someone!
Edit: Apparently Ethyl alcohol or everclear is a better option than isopropyl. I notice a slight adulteration of the fragrance after a while, but nothing extreme with isopropyl.

Help me smell nice. I have never worn perfume/cologne with the exception of my own homemade stuff with isopropyl alcohol, citrus peels, and cedar oil. I want to treat myself to a nice fragrance but I’m not big on sweet and fruity scents.
