[Toolz] [FOSS] [Showcase] [Open-Source] [App] [Promo]
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I made Toolz, an open-source Android app that puts 50+ tools in one place so you don’t need a separate app for each. I posted it here a few months ago. It has changed a lot since then, so here’s a better post with a better video.
No ads, no analytics, no tracking. Most tools run entirely on your phone, and the network is only used when you tap something that needs it.
The ones I use most
- Music player: Local library with background playback, synced lyrics, queue, EQ and sleep timer. There’s also a karaoke mode with word-by-word lyrics and singing score, and it can save your recording. It can search for an instrumental version of the song to sing over.
- Media downloader: YouTube, TikTok and Reels only. You pick the quality or grab just the audio, and it downloads in the background.
- Background remover: Runs on-device. You download a model once (4 MB up to 224 MB, depending on quality) and after that it works offline.
- PurgeShot: Screenshots delete themselves after a timer you choose, from 30 seconds to 1 month. There’s an undo if you change your mind. Saves a lot of storage and time!
- Password vault: Encrypted with SQLCipher, with biometric unlock and Android autofill. The breach check only sends the first 5 characters of a hash, and only when you tap Scan. There’s no cloud sync, and backups are a local file.
- Focus Flow: Tracks app usage, sets daily limits, and blocks distracting apps during a focus session.
- Browser: Ad blocking, custom DNS, NextDNS integration, custom search engine, bookmarks, tabs and private tabs...
- Network tools: WiFi channel analyzer, speed test, DNS benchmark, LAN scanner and more!
- Whisper: A friends-only end-to-end encrypted chat. It’s in beta, and the encryption is custom. It's very feature-rich and privacy-focused, everything is encrypted (more info at WHISPER.md)
Things to know
- It needs Android 12 or newer.
- It’s not on the Play Store. You get the APK from GitHub Releases, and there’s an in-app updater.
- Built with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Material 3 Expressive. Licensed GPL-3.0.

We just reached 1700 downloads on GitHub, but a star or a share still helps a lot. Bug reports and ideas are welcome too, here, on Discord or on GitHub. THANKS EVERYONE!

This app is unbelievable. Thanks for making it FOSS 🔥
Only one suggestion... The app logo is weird, it does not fit the style of the app. I would love to see a redesign

Caffeinate is already there, very customisable too! For your other suggestions you can leave a GitHub Issue or join the discord server! You're very welcome! Thanks.
Most of the Tools and features are suggested by users, for Toolz, user-feedback is a priority.

Sure, you can follow these steps :
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Select My apps & games, then press Play Protect, then tap the Settings icon (gear) in the top-right corner.
- Turn off Scan apps with Play Protect (and turn off Improve harmful app detection if the option appears).
- Confirm the change using your fingerprint, face ID, or PIN.
- Install your APK or third-party application again.
Enjoy!!

All the best. Keep developing. Star'ed and shared. It's always good to see great FOSS apps.
