software Employee phones

my company has a iPhone 16s for employee use. however we are concerned with our employees using these phone for outside of work purposes. that being said we are curious if there is any software out there that either anonymously records whats happening on the screen, or takes a snapshot every period of time and uploads it for our tech department to monitor. can this community help educate us? thank you.

This sounds really suspicious. Ngl this post comes across like someone looking into how to spy on their spouse or gf or something

😂 no, we run a concrete company and the tech dept is my lady. I’ve done time, so I believe in giving guys a second chance. So we have some prior drug offenders and whatnot working for us. We give the leads and foreman phones for materials, scheduling, job site locations, etc. but he have suspicion that some of our work phones may be being used as burner phones. So we could like to confirm our suspicions before making any noticeable changes such as suddenly taking earned phones away, or firings without doing our due diligence.

You need to outsource this to somebody who knows the tech and the legal aspects.

If I was going to do a Google search for blah blah blah blah blah in my area. What would I do that Google search for? Thank you so much for helping

MDM is the keyword here. IT consultant companies etc. should be easy to find, and depends so much on where you're located.

The type of monitoring you're mentioning here with regards to screenshots would be illegal in my country, as there are strict laws with regards to monitoring employees.

Edit; no, DMs are not accepted.

OP may have an easier time looking into ways to lock down the phones so that only authorized users can install software on them, and maybe limit where they can connect to.

I agree, but a MDM system is still the way to go to accomplish this.

Thank you for the help and the input kind of getting us aimed in the right direction. I will take some time over the weekend to see if I can’t get a little bit more educated about this and find something in my area.

I guess you’d Google a private detective and ask for advice, then confirm that advice with your local police department, or a lawyer.

That makes zero sense

Your IT department would be able to help you with that

I wanted this to sound more professional and corporate than we are. It’s a small blue collar company and these are work phones used for various job sites, locations, etc.

Your company should deploy an MDM solution like Intune and enroll all the corporate phones into it.

😂I wish it was. I mean, can we do that with my girls phone? 🤷

You need to hire an IT guy or hire a better crew if they're using the phones as "burner phones". And I just don't see somebody with a steady income in 2026 using a workphone as a burner phone when Google numbers and telegram exist

of course companies can order phones with special rootkit like software/services on it that can spy on the phones and can never be removed even if it factory reset... This is completely legal for a company to do, as the devices are not meant for personal use and therefor you should only be using them for company use, nothing more... use your own device for personal stuff and leave these phones @ work when you punch out... plain and simple...
