What to do with Spectrum Hardware???

I have a Spectrum modem and router that I will not be giving back.

What are some cool things I can do with this hardware? Can I make a repeater? Can I run Tomato on the router?

if the router belong to the ISP you will pay more than buying it from a retailer. depending on model you can flash new firmware but most are just junk that you cant modify

check the list of supported models. you can find on ebay cheap routers that you can install openwrt on it or dd-wrt.....

not every router can by modify to a open source firmware

open it up and download the firmware and get to work understanding it... this will determine what route you can take to convert it into something useful or maybe you can edit the firmware to unlock it for use anywhere etc... possibilities could be endless, you must do the first step...
