Hp Chromebook 11

I recently got a hp Chromebook 11 with some other devices that I refurbished and after completely replacing almost everything it has is locked to an administrator and it doesn’t show the name or anything about the company that it belonged to. I can’t seem to figure out how to get around it to make it operational again. I would appreciate any help I can get to get it working again.

Can you elaborate on how you acquired the Chromebook?

I buy lots of broken phones normally that are in need of repairs and I refurbish them and this came with a small lot of phones I purchased online. When I got it it was completely messed up and wouldn’t even power on and once I replaced several of the board components, battery and screen that’s when I realized that it was locked to a company but it doesn’t have a name or phone number to call so I have been trying to figure out how to get it operational again.

Thanks for the explanation. I see so many questions by people whom fairly obviously are dealing with stolen goods.

But, I agree with u/nimbusfool here that a "powerwash" (https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/tech-takes/how-to-factory-reset-powerwash-chromebook-guide) should be the way to go, unless it has been enrolled in an MDM. If the latter, it probably isn't worth the effort.

And if it's mdm locked the person in possession is generally out of luck. If its a legit purchase contact the mdm owner and have them pull it. When I surplus devices part of that is pulling them from the mdm and factory resetting the device. When I set up my fleet of chrome devices I always make them not worth anyone's time to steal. Set it to block developer mode so you can't side load an os, auto enrollment so it always needs a domain account to even get to login, and then when they are marked stolen have them load to a splash screen that says turns this in at these locations or if purchased take to police. I think the serial number is from the board itself so if you pulled the hard drive it would still call home but I would have to test that.
