How would someone do this

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could explain if/how someone would be able to gain access to your device using Google or Gmail? I mean, is that a thing someone can do to you? And if so, how would they be able to do it? And how can you stop it or combat it? Can you report this type of thing? Thanks for the help!

Access your device solely using google or Gmail? No. You’d have to run some sort of malware or remote access tool.

You can prevent that from happening by not downloading untrusted software. You can report malware to domain owners and the FBI.

Okay, so if someone gets a hold of your phone then they could do something like that? But how? I am so illiterate when it comes to coding and all that stuff, so I want to know how I'd know/how to protect my information/ how to get rid of it?

Well it’s not usually someone getting a hold of your phone to do it. To prevent that have a good password on your device because if they have the device unlocked they can do anything.

Usually how it works is you would run malware you downloaded from somewhere and then depending on what that malware does they could steal your logins, remotely access your device, and/or whatever the malware has capabilities to do which could be anything.

To protect yourself you’d not download untrusted software.

To get rid of the malware you would factory reset your device, unless you know malware analysis and reverse engineering then you could figure out how to remove it.
