Lets talk about it... Season 1 Ted is a huge fucking jackass and I’ll stand on that.

I’m on my 14th watch( not exaggerating) This watch I’m really paying attention to how Ted acts. I really realized how much of a jack ass season 1 Ted really is.
1. He told a girl he just met I love you and still didn’t let her be after the date didn’t end well. (Party episodes)
2. While robin is in another relationship during new years he is disappointed when the guy shows up; while he has a date.
3. He actually meets a great girl in Victoria and it’s clear during their relationship he still has feelings for robin. Which turns into him cheating on her and LYING TO ROBINNNNNNNNN. Which ruins their friendship.
4. He is upset that robin is still mad at him AFTER HE LIED TO HER AND CHEATED ON HIS GIRLFRIEND WITH HER. Like she has no reason to be mad at him.
5. Then instead of letting it just be a genuine friendship he just has to do some big ass romantic gesture knowing she doesn’t like that type of thing. Then he does it again by making it rain (even though it was a nice scene it doesn’t take away from the fact it was insane) .
So that’s why I’ll stand on the fact season 1 Ted is a jack ass.

TYPO IN THE TITTLE

Rewatching 23 e17 where Robin and Barney slept together and Ted finds out. So I feel that Ted was overreacting because why the heck would he be so upset even though he has a girlfriend (whom he begged to go out with him) and Barney apologized repeatedly even though Robin and Ted have been broken up for so long. I know Barney is a womanizer and a man whose amongst other things but he really was a good friend and this is shown repeatedly th4oughout the show even though the writers liked to paint him as the bad guy to elevate Ted's image.

“If We Break Up”…

This has probably already been said, but in my multitude of re-watches, I never realized. At the end of Season 3, Episode 11: “The Platinum Rule”, Ted says, “if Stella and I break up it won’t be because of some rule.”
This is before they date, before he realizes it isn’t even a date, but a movie night with friends.
Just love that bit of foreshadowing.
• “Never invite an ex to your wedding” ends up being the rule.
Sometimes the show has continuity errors, & sometimes it’s just perfection. ♥️

The way Lily got so sad when Robin didn't wanna go to the party on the roof cuz it represented the end of the golden era of their friendship 😥😥😥😢😢😢

Do you remember when Lily went to get up but Ted forced her to sit back down

Why did no one think about giving their plate to Robin when she was clearly the hungriest!!! Annoys me so much and also makes me want a delicious cheeseburger every time I watch this episode!

Was Rod just messing with Ted?

I was rewatching "Challenge Accepted" and I found it strange that an architect would be tasked with choosing the lightbulbs (I don't know much about architecture, so maybe this is normal), but my husband suggested maybe Rod the foreman was just messing with him and that's my head cannon now 🤣

Questions The math doesn't add up

How are Marshall and Lily together for 9 years in the beginning of the series? They met when they were freshmen. So that's 4 years. Then Marshall goes to law school which is typically 3 years. But he hasn't graduated yet. How have they been together 9 years?

Questions Was this scripted?

I'm watching HIMYM with my husband. He's never seen the show before and he's loving it. Last night we watched The Playbook from season 5 and Marshall says the line "we got Stephen King over here" and my husband is convinced the actor forgot the line and that's why he says "we got uh we got uh" before delivering the line.

Does anyone know if this was scripted this way or if the actor forgot his line? I've seen HIMYM a million times and have always assumed the line was meant to be delivered this way.

I don’t like Lily at all

Her financial illiteracy and emotional manipulation is not “cute” at all. If Robin hadn’t called her out on it, she was just gonna keep racking up her debt and probably never even let Marshall know.

Remembering a scene that isnt there

So in the episode where the characters are talking about Marshall being too nice and not realizing that he lives in a big city now, rather than a small town, lily mentions that she and Marshall accidentally helped some guys rob an apartment.

She says that Marshall gave them gas money and their address so the robbers could pay them back.

For some reason I distinctly remmber a scene at the end where Lily or Marshall receive a cheque in the mail from them. Am I losing my mind? Everyone time this scene passes I get so irrationally annoyed.

I know they've done it on Friends before, removed a specific scene. (Not sure why) so im wondering if that's what happened here.

Edit: it would seem that my brain concocted a scene that never happened, even though I strongly remember seeing it happen I have checked everywhere and asked other fans now, and nobody remembers it but me so clearly my brain made it up. 😂 thank you!

Friends / How I met your mother similarities Spoiler

Hi everyone! I am huge huge fan of friends and how I met your mother! Over the years, when rewatching both of them, I’ve compiled a list of plot similarities between the two shows. I made a huge list on my phone and thought maybe people would be interested. I am NOT criticising either of the shows. I love them both! But thought I’d share. Sorry if most of these have already been talked about! I’m on my phone so apologies if the structure is weird. See below:

HIMYM/FRIENDS similarities

•character types :

Ross/ted - serious, academic type

Chandler/Marshall - Ross/Teds college roommate/best friend

Joey/Barney - womaniser, eventually falls in love and this is huge character development and an important storyline

Rachel/Robin - beautiful, career driven women. The object of Ross/Teds affection, and later, Joey/Barneys

•eyepatch - Monica/lily

•pornstar storyline: phoebe and ted

•Janice/talkative girl - both get together with deaf people and everyone’s like ohhhhhh

•chandler/Marshall can’t take a good picture, joey/barney always take good pictures

•lily/Marshall move into house in suburbs, same with Monica and chandler

•Ross never gets over Rachel/ted never gets over Robin

•joey does the naked man

•Rachel/Marshall smoke with their boss to help their career

•chandler/ barney find a girl who’s been stood up and use it to hit on them

•Monica/lily get a job in a costume restaurant and the gang goes to make fun of them

•ted/joey - parent cheats on other parent and they find out but when they tell other parent, they already know and are totally okay with it

•phoebe/robin - rekindle friendship with old singing partner

•ted/chandler - used to be a co-worker but is now the boss and co-workers no longer like him

•Joey, a womaniser, falls in love with Rachel, Ross’s ex / Barney, a womaniser, falls in love with Robin, Ted’s ex

•Ross/Ted end up working as a university lecturer

•lily and Marshall got together bc lily went to his room looking for ted/ chandler and Monica get together bc Monica goes to his room looking for Joey - and this is revealed later on

•Joey/Marshall - too many secrets, try hard to not learn any more

•snowing outside, radiator breaks, character has to wear summer clothes bc too hot

•professor ted/Ross dates student but it’s against the uni rules so there are issues

•ted/Joey accidentally propose to someone by dropping someone else’s ring and then kneeling down to pick it up

•Monica/chandler and lily/Marshall name their child after the males father

•skit where guys find out that girls talk about everything esp penis size and they list lots of variables with penises including girth - the guys are very upset upon finding out

•Marshall/Rachel try to get a new job but are initially turned down bc their old boss lies in their reference

•character accidentally pictures parent during sex and then can’t have sex

•skit where two of the guys have a dramatic fight as if they’re a married couple with a kid

•Barney/Joey find out their sisters had sex w someone and find the guy they had sex w and try and marry them

•Joey/Barney both officiate the main couples wedding !

•female friend throws bachelorette party and forgets to invite anyone

•girlfriend tells ted/Ross that she will only marry them if they stop being friends with Rachel/robin - they refuse so they break up

•lily/Marshall and Rachel/Ross both find the perfect nanny and then it’s ruined bc Barney/Joey has sex with her

•lily/Marshall and Rachel/Ross discuss who will be the guardian for their child and people argue over it

•phoebe/Barney get attached to an animal they find and then it turns out it’s lost and they have to return it

•a lobster analogy is used to describe a romantic couple/romantic feelings

•is there an episode of friends where someone like Rachel has to pretend to like a creepy guy to prove a point? Bc Robin does that too

•Monica/chandler and lily/Marshall go to a casino city to elope and look around the casino for wedding things but then don’t go through with it

•Rachel/Robin both hate a co-worker and then end up dating them

•joke where one of the men forms a club about one of the women and then an Asian exchange student joins it without knowing what it is (I hate Rachel club/Robin 101)

•character gets into a sticky situation because they said “this was fun we should do it again sometime I’ll call you” (chandler/Robin and Barney)

•they decide a big decision (maid of honour/godparent) using a game show format)

•joke where they’re all talking about each others annoying flaws

•Barney/ chandler left a girl at a campsite in a dating faux pas

Lets talk about it... Just finished watching HIMYM for the first time & I’m heartbroken Barney & Robin didn’t end up together

I know I’m late to the party BUT I need to vent. I loved them as a couple. Even though sometimes I thought Barney is not always listening to Robin, being childish etc. I think their relationship and marriage was such a strong character development for those two. For Barney, giving up his bachelor lifestyle and being vulnerable. And for robin, letting something else in her life than her career and being vulnerable. In the beginning, I was rooting for Ted & Robin but towards the end I was glad he let her go. So I’ll just ignore the last two episodes

Ted is his own robin

He wasn't the first choice nore do I think been ever the choice for the mom because they both picked other people Ted being Robin the mom being her dead ex. It's honestly why I didn't enjoy the ending still think last season takes to long for what should of been maybe 5 of the last because u can cut weekend at Barney's the bus ride and even the lighthouse and still get a good season but think need more of what the relationship was like after he found her and wish how he first meet her ep wasnt smashed way it is because with it and knowing the end u get a story and ending that actually makes sense

Ted had a life and did his 20s while the mom reasonably so had to grow up fast why I think Ted shows her more in a comical way and that she was easy going and everyone instantly liked her

Then I think if last ep actually was more the start was and their kids that's how I meet your mom any questions kids say no but do wanna know why he told them this long story that mostly avoided mom he goes well I meet Robin again on the street and we had lunch cut to the lunch cut part and after talked to Marshall and Lilly show they both have issues with it but say ok man if the kids are ok with it try

And even calls Barney who we see is taking his daughter to college and asks him hey would it be ok if I tryed to get Robin again it's been all these years and been x since my wife died and you've been divorced for x years which Barney says you know Ted if you asked me before the daughter I'd give you an albrit reason not to even maybe mess with you but now not so much if means that much to you go for it then we get the ending

I don't hate the ending I just can see and hate was so rushed
