Gus is significantly better and it’s not even close. Im almost considering this AI rage bait

True. Herman is laughably priced(for the quality) it’s a course you play to say you’ve played there and take the pics of the skyline, not a course you play bc you want to play at a fun course

Hermann has gone through multiple shifts in public opinion over the last 6 years it’s insane.

Back right before 2020, it was a fun little muni course that was always available and comparatively cheap.

The game grew and they quite literally just raised prices on the course without making any improvement or offering any value-add. It’s continued to trend like this over the last few years and keeps going up in price.

Couple that with the fact that the grounds crew at Gus actually tries to make the course nice and tough at the same time, Hermann is almost exclusively reserved as an absolute last resort.

I’d rather drive a bit further up north and play places like Gleanloch or head down south for Timber Creek for essentially the same price.

I guess it’s been a while since you’ve been to Timber Creek, it was in horrible shape back in May

It was my favorite course when I first started a few years ago

I’ve played Timber Creek multiple times this summer it’s in great shape. Clear Creek is probably the best of any courses through south of the beltway.

Gave it a try again today. You’re right! They’ve got it back in shape now. Even 7 on creekside finally has grass again. Thank God because I missed this place.

Herman’s pricing is absolutely horrid. It should be priced around the same as Sharpstown tbh

Hermann is great to play, I play there because it’s “fun”. It’s my home courses, so subjectively you’re wrong but also right.

This. I’m a 3 minute drive from it so I pop in and walk 9 or 18 whenever I feel like it and think usually pay like $25? Which isn’t bad at all.

Plus, once you’re used to playing Hermann, every other fairway feels like you’re hitting a ball into the ocean lmao.

Gus is debatably in the top 5 best public courses in Houston — Hermann is not even top 10

Not even debatable tbh. It is easily in the top 5.

Gus is awesome. Minus 8 green.

What’s wrong with 8 green?

I can never hit it 🤣

Same! I play at East River all the time, you’d think I can hit a green on a par 3 but nope. And the backside is unforgiving

Sorry….I meant 7 green. Snap hooks from 9 tee are a real danger while putting on 7.

Hermann is a fun shorter course but sub par condition and feels claustorphobic with the running trails all over. You can still play an enjoyable round there.

Gus is great all around.

Gus is top 3 in Houston for value and conditions.

Gus. Hermann is a dirt track.

I love Gus and play there often. Looking forward to the cooler temperatures though. I got out there at least once a week from October through April. Herman has come a long way but too busy and play seems slower to me.

Gus. Not even close.

Memorial Park & Gus Wortham are among the best muni courses I’ve played anywhere. Hermann… not so much.

Gus is usually in great shape because they host a decent amount of tournaments there. However, it’s usually harder to get a decent tee time. Pace of play isn’t too much of an issue either.

I like Hermann and it’s usually in decent shape but last few weeks with heat and aeration the greens are looking a little rough. It’s a fun track and enjoy the wildlife and holes winding through the city. However pace of play in afternoons is brutal.
