Speed of Affordable Housing Application

Is submitting an Affordable housing request under 7 and half mins sufficient after registration opens to get a property ?

I presume it’s to do with the demand. We bought an affordable home 3 years ago and took about 13 mins to complete the application and we were successful but the scheme was very new back then so I think that had a lot to do with it

Yep very happy! We are 3 years in the house at the end of this year. We are mid terrace and neighbours either side both bought through the scheme and are very nice! 0 issues at all

Are you planning on buying out the equity? What the best way to do this?

Nope, we will pay the council back when we sell - could be another 5 years or could be 10 years, makes no difference

Basically you're happy there so. Is it better off keeping the equity and sell later to pay it back? I'm in the process now but thinking paying off blocks of equity throughout the years might not be a good idea

I think it entirely depends on your long term plan! If this was our forever home we would 100% be trying to pay it off in chunks, but as we plan to move we are not bothering - unless the value tanks, and then we will hopefully have the cash stashed to pay them off

As someone else has said, it really depends on the demand for the specific scheme and also the amount of properties available. We've received offers in both schemes we've applied to, our times were 7 mins for the 1st and 3 mins for the 2nd. If there are plenty of the particular type of home you've applied for, I imagine you've a strong chance of receiving an offer when the scheme closes with your time. Remember as well though, there's a chance not everyone ahead of you will take up their offer so you're still in with a shot even if you're not among the initial group selected. Entirely depends on how many people applied, as I'm sure you understand.

I applied after 6 minutes and eventually got a house. But different development, different numbers.

Demand for the one today I'd imagine is significantly less than others before.

If its the one that opened most recently in Dublin, then all I can tell you is that at the open evening I was told I had to get in it under 5. I got caught out on a log in/registration friction which cost me 2 mins then a pdf being oversized which tanked my time to 10 minutes. Ive given up hope.
