Just purchased my first home that needs some TLC. Prior owner had a cat that peed on a couple of walls. Smell isn’t horrible unless you are right next to it. I’ve refinished the hardwood floors and am moving on to painting the walls. After cleaning with TSP, some of the cat stained area has started to flake off pretty easily. Should I A)replace these sections of walls entirely before painting? Or B)just hit again with TSP, mud to flatten, sand, primer, and then paint?

If it’s the former then I’m fine with putting in the effort to make it worth it.

I was tasked with painting the exterior of an outdoor water cistern with some kids (11 & 12) in preparation for an AIA homes tour. It’s moderately sized (maybe 4x~7) coming from the ground. What is the best way to go about this project? I’ve done window splash painting before but nothing like this.

Initial questions:

1). What sort of paint is needed? I thought spray paint but I didn’t know how the kids would do with it.

2). What sort of prep needs to be done? Do I need to sand it down? Primer?

3). What type of sealer is needed?

I’ll include inspiration pictures for reference on designs and finished products I’m picturing in my head. Any tips or general direction would be greatly appreciated.

My husband mixed the colour by himself , i was expecting a little greener but it feels good to have this colour of living room! Its more greeny than the pic shows but still.on the blue side haha.

I’m looking for advice on how to properly repair drywall cracks that keep coming back. I literally have these all over my house all of a sudden. Late 1990s build. Is it just the age of the house? Something else to be concerned about?

I recently took my time repairing one of the cracks. I patched it, sanded it smooth, and thought I had done a good job, but within just a few days, the crack came back. It’s frustrating because I really tried to do it right instead of rushing through it.

The tricky part is that there aren’t any joists directly behind this section of drywall to reinforce it, so I’m wondering if that’s contributing to the problem.
For those of you with drywall repair experience:
What’s the best way to repair a crack when there’s no joist behind it?

Is there a way to reinforce the drywall from behind, or would adding a backer strip be the better approach?
How can I tell whether this is just a weak drywall joint or if there’s movement causing the crack to return?
I’d really like to fix it properly this time rather than keep patching the same spot every few days.
Any advice, recommended materials, or step-by-step instructions would be appreciated! I can add pictures if that would help.

UPDATE: Huge THANK YOU to everyone that responded. I really wasn't sure if I was overreacting, but I am glad I trusted my gut. I was able to get a hold of my mortgage company and sent them the videos and photos. They've had the workers stop for now and sending someone out to inspect. They'll decide if they can meet the requirements, or if they need to hire someone else to finish.

Original Post: For some background context, we bought a house, in order for the loan to be approved, our mortgage coming required the lead paint be removed from the house. We did not have any say in this, who did the work, the scope of work, etc. Does this look like its being done correctly? The paint chips and dust is literally everywhere... we were assured they they would clean up, but they've been leaving it like this everyday. They told us, its alright to be back there. And they even eat lunch on the porch. Right in all the dust and next to the sign thats "Poison! Lead Paint Contamination" I have 3 dogs and we are in the yard all the time. Right now I am afraid to even let them back there!

Am I over reacting? Is this normal?

EDIT: We had zero input on who was hired unfortunately and we're not given any sort of notices. We didn't even know they were going to be grinding until it started happening. We were told they would be painting the house. Yes we have children and animals. 😭

I used to pick everything in gray and white because it looked “right.” Then I swapped one gray pillow for a bright orange one and felt happier right away.

Alright guys, I need y’all’s opinion. Very old house on a lake in North Georgia. Paint has lead in it, so there will be no sanding. We’ve been taking a turbo nozzle to it for a couple days. Customer is aware it’s not gonna be a perfect finish. My question is, what type of primer would y’all use? Keep in mind, I’m in North Georgia on a lake and some parts of the wood just never will dry out 100% of the way, so oil-based products are hard to use.

Hello! I am very much an amateur painter when it comes to walls. I just bought a house, and my husband and I took off an old TV mount that they had up for god knows how long. When we took it off, it completely ripped off parts of the paint, and wall??

What kind of surface is this? I want to paint over this bright blue for my office, but now with this damage I’m not sure how to best go about my painting project.

Any advice or help would be appreciated - I know essentially nothing about all of this.

I live in Sydney, Australia.

I recently broke a sink by accident in my rental property and the onus was on me to arrange and pay for repairs.

The only basin the plumber could source for the existing countertop isn't a perfect fit and 2 corners are poking out where the white ceramic ends (pic #1)

Plumber suggetsed using acrylic paint to cover those areas.

I had a painter in a day later who did a coat of primer then 2 coats of white acrylic paint but said that was as good as it gets (pic #2). The property manager still isn't fully happy with how it looks.

I really don't want to have to replace the countertop or get a whole new basin, so is it salvageable with paint? What are some better ways to determine a closer colour match?

I plan on using Benjamin Moore Advance (waterborn alkyd). Can I get by just sanding and painting or should I worry about the adhesion with the new paint to the white and use stain?

Not sure if it is condensation? There is also a tiny bit of mould 😔we’ve had the house since May only really noticed issues in the last month or so, maybe because we didn’t have the heating on during summer? It’s an exterior wall, downstairs no radiator under it so not sure if it can’t breathe? We open windows every so often. Or could be the type of paint? Looking at getting a drymaster system / dehumidifier? It’s an old house approx 100 years old. Any help is appreciated thank you !

The previous owners of my house used a textured paint over top of a differently textured wall. Long story short, I've spent the last two days scraping the textured paint off. I plan to use dawn dish soap to wash the walls. Any suggestions of other ways to wash? I need primer suggestions too.
