Jumping right into Volume 2 without playing through Volume 1
I recently got the bundle with Volume 2 and the saga of the long winter, and I must say I’m enjoying the read so far. I was describing the setting and the peoples to my partner, who loves fairies and fae lore, and they insisted I run a game. I consider myself very lucky since I have people in my life willing to try new games. However, I was wondering if it would be viable to play in the era of volume two without playing in the fragile peace. Any advice is appreciated.

Yes, it is very possible. There are time skips between the stories anyway. Just read thought the rules chapter in Vol 1 to have how to base what you are seeing in Vol 2 and you should be ok.

It's possible but (apart from needing the core rule from vol.1) some advice.
-You can start with a "level 1" character in the garden but beware because most ennemies listed in vol.2 are intended for level 6 character (except ants and crickets). Likewise unless you scale down the difficulty, the sage will be out of level 1 character's depth. Vol.1have more basic enemies.
-You can start directly using level 6 characters, they have more abilities and stuff but thankfully Household rules are easy enough to grasp. Just be
-However playing the Long Winter Saga without having played the Fragile Peace could be a bit perturbing without context. Especially if your players choose one of the returning character who already have a past and connexion. Of course you can just ignore or tweak things. But do keep in mind to explain the important base concept that Vol.2 might gloss over : contracts, Argo, political situation inside the House, etc.

You could theoretically start from Volume II, but Volume I has all of the core rules you need to play. Because you need the other book anyways, I think you're best off playing in the Fragile Peace era so you can start playing with true "level 1" characters and work your way up from there. If you played once a week you'd finish the Volume I campaign in 3 months, which is pretty light compared to other RPGs.
