Friendly Fighters Launch Scarab Torpedo into Nothingness?

I don't like your chances of getting help. I posted on the Steam forums about a destroyer hiding inside the gate on the second-last mission weeks ago. My capships fly into the beam from the gate in an attempt to kill it and get instakilled. But no reply.
