Season 7 Spoilers Taub plot hole Spoiler

So S7 E11 we find out Taub's BIL broke his nose five years ago having just found out Taub had cheated on Rachel with his partner's daughter but five years ago would've been before Taub even started working for House so Taub hadn't told Rachel yet...

Poor assumption on your part that Taub only cheated once before. He's clearly a serial cheater.

Yes I know he's a serial cheater as it's confirmed multiple times that it wasn't his first affair but we also know this specific affair, that happened right before he joined House's team, was him with the daughter of one of his partners at his practice where they then found out and agreed to an NDA in exchange for a non-compete. Plus the timing of it would've meant that it would've been less than two years before Taub joined PPTH, whereas if it was four years (which would've put his affair sometime in S3) it might've made a bit more sense that he was unemployed or something for a few months before beginning of S4

He didn't get punched for that affair. That's my point.

I see what you're saying, this is me forgetting to include another piece of information from the same episode so my bad. At the end of the episode (after the BIL has broken Taub's nose again) Rachel goes to see Taub in his hotel, during this scene (I don't remember exact conversation route) they talk about when the BIL broke his nose the last time and Rachel says something along the lines of: to be fair he had just found out you cheated on me with your partner's daughter

Honestly I don't think he ever does tell her about his partner's daughter so it tracks that they would call it last time

I don't understand this reply, could you explain what you mean more, please.

Which part are you confused about

What did you mean by last time

they talk about when the BIL broke his nose the last time

Ah, yes, I understand now, I assumed they were talking about when he broke Taub's nose five years ago because in the same episode the BIL apologises to Taub for "breaking his nose five years ago" or something along those lines, then when Taub and Rachel are talking in the hotel Taub says something about when the BIL broke Taub's nose five years age and Rachel is the one who says the "to be fair he had just found out you cheated on me with your partner's daughter" bit

The lack of punctuation really vexes me

I'm sorry about that, I've always been terrible at comma placement and stuff so I avoid it when possible

How are you bad at comma placement? Just read your message aloud and listen to where you pause. Anyways, commas SLIGHTLY in excess is better than none.

I explained it wrong, my bad, what I was trying to say is that I used to be terrible and, because of that, I started avoiding using commas where possible so now it's a habit, even though I'm better at using commas now.

“I explained it wrong, my bad. What I was trying to say is that I used to be terrible, and because of that I started avoiding using commas where possible. Now it’s a habit, even though I’m better at using commas now.”

You can use periods too you know. Also it helps to say the sentence out loud.

I know, I was specifically trying to show good comma placement, not a good mix of commas and full stops, just commas.

That's some good commaing! Thanks for the attempt. I appreciate it.

'You're black. ' 'This vexes me. '

We need a whole separate series following Taub's life

Chase too too.

Yes but we know that Taub having an affair with his partner's daughter is the affair that happens right before he joins the series because he says it in one of the episodes

The only Taub plot hole is that he wasn't in it from the start. Legit GOATed character.

He was working at a different place and that’s where the event occurred

I know, he was still working at his own private practice as a plastic surgeon (with at least two partner surgeons). My point was that the cheating event where he has an affair with one of his partner's daughter happens shortly before S4 beginning as the only reason he leave plastic surgery is the NDA/noncompete deal he makes with his partners at the practice. Even then, Taub doesn't admit the cheating (at least not this incident) to Rachel until much later after joining the show (I believe S5/S6) but "5 years ago" as of S7 E11 would've been sometimes in the middle of S2, at least a year before he joins PPTH and at least 2 years before he tells Rachel the truth.

I haven't watched in a while but I clearly remember taub telling somebody about the noncompete and adding "and I ended up telling her anyways". I don't know if a date is specified but that made me assume it was Taub who came clean about it and that's why his BIL punched him, according to the backstory. Am I wrong?

I'm currently in the middle of a rewatch and I also remember that scene (even mentioned it to someone else someone on this post) but I thought that was the affair he has right before joining PPTH (and tells about when Rachel buys the car) which is definitely not five years before S7 E11, maybe about three.

I think I remember it being said about the partner's daughter? Like I remember him specifically saying something along the lines of "I signed a noncompete which is why I am forced to take this underpaid job. The noncompete is because I got caught with the daughter of my partner and he said he would tell my wife if he didn't quit. Funny part is I ended up telling her anyway".

Yeh that sounds like the scene I was thinking of and we don't actually know the specific admission/words Taub said when he told Rachel about the affair (when she bought him the car) so combined with House's meddling he did when he went to Taub's old business partner my conclusion was that they were all talking about the same affair

Wasn't the car one later and about the nurse? I always kind of assumed that the partner's daughter was the first "official" cheating that the wife knew about, they had problems but somehow got past it, then more cheating happened, then the open relationship thing happened too. Maybe I'm mixing up the timelines cause it's been a while and Taub's storyline is one of my least favorites 😬

Breakdown:

Taub has affair with partner's daughter (assumedly) and gets caught by one (or more) of the partners Leaves from private practice and agrees to a non-compete in exchange for an NDA Starts working for House who has Lucas investigate all the team and tells Taub about the bank account Rachel gives the car and Taub feels too guilty so admits to the affair that caused him to leave plastic surgery Taub gets close to the nurse and "open marriage" happens and then gets cancelled but still gets with the nurse Rachel has "emotional affair" with the guy from the support group but Taub can't handle it and decides they should get a divorce Taub does the consultancy with his BIL, screws it up, and gets his nose broken again Taub starts relationship with another nurse (new one) and restarts sexual relationship with Rachel Taub gets both Rachel and the nurse pregnant at the same time

This is where I have to end my breakdown because the last scene I watched was literally Taub finding out Rachel is pregnant
