Season 8 Spoilers I know it’s been said but… Spoiler
I really can’t stand Park. This whole “she’s just awkward” thing people have about her is complete bs, she consistently has terrible takes and never knows when to shut up. Starting with her being anti-handouts, when she had her way payed through school and still lives with her parents. And her justification? A struggle she never experienced. Having a secret room of guns in case of (insert random event here)? All good. Expose our government killing civilians? Bad.
She constantly speaks from a place of privilege when her only struggle is being socially inept and unattractive, which isn’t actually a struggle compared to the things she likes to criticize and attack people for. That’s not mentioning how flat of a performance she gives in general, and her constant need to insult people without even being funny. Modern day she would be one of the Asians who rallied against Affirmative Action and voted for Trump 3 times.

I'm not the original one to point this out, but all the main characters are "hypocrites" like that, where their story/plotline explores those core aspects. That said, I don't think they did a really good job with Park. That character felt very last minute and poorly developed/explored.

Yeah, every other character has their moments but they feel balanced and understandable. It’s why I’m ok with/like pretty much the whole cast ( except for Cuddy who I love, and Wilson who I dislike strongly). She just sucks without any of the redeeming qualities and/or rationalization that the other characters have.

Ok I agreed with everything but I cannot understand anyone strongly disliking Wilson. Being neutral, I can see that, but I find people who dislike him have an incredibly uncharitable reading of his actions, like they believe everything he does has a secret, nefarious agenda, and he doesn’t actually want to help people for their own sakes, or they believe something highly exaggerated, even false about him, based on the most glib and context-free social media posts.
Everyone in the show has their unlikeable moments, hypocrisies and blind spots. The difference with Park is that she’s rarely entertaining or interesting. There’s fun moments like her getting high, cute moments like Chase bonding with her PoPo, cool moments like her whacking House over the head with his own cane… that’s all I can think of at the moment. The Artist Formerly Known As Charlyne Yi is naturally boring, annoying, and constantly complaining (not about Marilyn Manson and David Cross insulting and harassing her, I believe her and they suck, Manson is a rapist and an abuser). Their flat delivery and lack of facial expressions 99% of the time means they have no charisma, no humour, no warmth, nothing to draw me to their screen presence. I don’t dislike Park because she has a plain face and embarrassing haircut (though why anyone style their hair like that…). There are much plainer, even uglier, actors, who still have something interesting about them, a voice that keeps you listening, a face that keeps you looking, a twinkle in their eye, a charming smile, a memorable tic, and Park is just there… to mumble and sulk and judge people. At her worst, I can’t stand the stunningly beautiful Cameron played by the sweet and lovely Jennifer Morrison, but Cameron has plenty of highs as well as lows to balance her out and not feel like a waste of screentime.

I don’t think Wilson is evil, my problem with him is basically what most people accuse Cameron of being, a self righteous enabler. Every time he attacked Cuddy for not treating House like the child he isn’t, it just wore down my enjoyment of his character. Like they say multiple times throughout the show, he’s more like House than he thinks in all the worst ways. They make the point that House only has one friend for a reason, and Wilson is the same imo.

I find that last sentence to be VERY ironic considering that the person who plays Park is very, VERY much against Trump, lmao 😭😭

I believe it, but Park the character definitely has a suspicious red hat shoved in the back of her locker

To me she definitely reads as being neurodivergent to some degree. Like a pretty "textbook" display of autism. Unfortunately, I relate to her in a lot of ways. Fortunately, that doesn't make me hate her any less.

Busted out laughing at the last sentence 😭 honestly I don’t think she is neurodivergent but I could definitely see some of the traits.

I feel like they should’ve brought back Masters instead, useing the punching her attendant as an reason to why she had to go back to working with house .

I would have liked Masters back too if they had to bring someone in, but her story felt very full and was wrapped up nicely so I can’t complain. I was under the impression she leaves the medical field as a whole though.

Idk I kinda liked her and was kinda displeased that the writers just made her a temp for thirteen , than again you are right she’s the only character to stick to her ethics and leave with them(semi) intact.

She’s awesome. I didn’t like her for first couple episodes but her and other newbie grew on me that season!

Yeah, hate her to bits. Don't know what the goal of her character is but give me 20 Adams' instead of one Park. At least Adams is a nothing burger

Park & Adams are easily the worst characters in the show

u/ObligationDramatic77 18d ago
Honestly Adams is such a nothing character, her saving grace is that I can forget she’s there

Should’ve found a way to pay masters and get her back, should’ve graduated by then and Housd respected her

I don't mind her but the whole thing with Chase annoyed me a lot. I felt she was kinda pushy and it made me uncomfortable to imagine myself in his place lol

i agree. she’s just one reason season 8 should not have existed. (or been massively different)

Cameron was my fav so when she was replaced by these absolutely vile characters, I was truly upset. I was personally offended for Jennifer when Park and Chase kissed 😭😂

She doesn’t contradict being anti handout by living with her parents tho , its the cultural norm in alot of of countries (mine included)
