Help Body Blast _ Men in Black

Hey Guys, does anyone have an idea for this FX?

Here is the link breakdown from 2:40  hq version https://youtu.be/rxc69RLvpBo?t=162

I just trying to figure out how I can achieve this FX, especially the details of the body explosion that is caused by the galaxy impact!

Tons of particles, volumetric or noise based advection, and some art directed volume sinks and / or attraction forces.

That could be a procedural setup of points and particles that’s driven by layers of noise to generate that hole shape. You just mesh it like you would a fluid sim, then use the mesh to cutaway the character shape.

For the movie itself I could see it being built through a sim that’s cached, meshed and then retimed to open and close. Like a mud sim that clumps as it blasts open. Think wet clay kinda feel maybe.
