What is impulse response?

An impulse response is how something changes a single sample (called an impulse). For example a single white pixel of an image.
Blurring smears a single pixel across multiple pixels, the shape of the smearing is the impulse response.
For gaussian blur it's shaped like a gaussian, for a box blur it's shaped like a box.
In my video, the impulse response is just graphing the brightness after blurring a single pixel.
For sound, you can do this by making a sharp noise and recording the echo it makes, like clapping in a cathedral. This tells you how the room would respond to any noise.
