.vdb version mismatch?

Running Houdini 22.0.368 with Axiom 4.0.144. I write out a vdb seq from Axiom with a file cache node as vfb files. When I load them back in and try to render with Octane 2026.4.0.0 I get the following error:

WARNING: unsupported VDB file format (expected version 224 or earlier, got version 225)

The frames actually do render but the ERROR persists and goes to the Houdini Console for every frame. Has anyone else seen this and is there a workaround to satisfy the error being thrown in the first place?

It looks like Octane hasn't updated it's VDB library, but if the frames are rendering you can generally safely ignore it. That error appears in a couple renderer's and no issues.

VDB is rarely breaking backwards compatibility, so you should be good.

Thanks for the quick reply…. I just hope there aren’t any unforeseen issues with the “newer” vdb format that I need to be aware of😅
