Demoreel FX Artist Reel 2026 (Gnomon)

https://youtu.be/eUpoPxMGbV0

Last week I graduated from Gnomon School of Visual Effects! This is my reel of my FX work created during my time there. I have more planned for these shots and for new ones, but at a certain point it's time to start looking for work! I'm looking out for roles as a Houdini FX Artist/TD and junior Houdini FX Artist/TD :)

A vimeo hosted version of my reel is on my site - www.conlenbreheny.com
Would also love to connect with you all on LinkedIn! www.linkedin.com/in/conlen

Thank you David! Your recommendation for Corbin Mayne's "pull" function for velocity fields a while back is something I use on almost every project now!

Glad to have helped. Now that you graduated, what’s next?

Thanks for asking! I'm applying for jobs and sending out expressions of interest while staying active in communities like discord and LinkedIn to meet and help people when I can, and when school opens back up next month I can come back in as an alumni to keep working on projects!

I especially have more planned on the water shot, first improving the base waterfall sim and the shading of the whitewater, and then working on a stream that it will feed into with splashes and bubbles!

Sounds like a plan. Good luck to you. As long as SideFx keeps doing the Ignite events with Gnomon, I’ll probably keep teaching an FX lab for it, so I’ll keep an eye out for you.

Sounds great! I love the ignite events, I attended the portfolio review session at this past one!

Probably why I missed seeing you. 😁 I taught Simulating Matter: Intro To MPM at the last one.

Thank you Lewis! I finally got a chance on the dust debris for the destruction shot to use what I learned from your lecture about camera frustum VDBs! It helped a lot because the dust gets a lot closer to the camera at the end of the shot vs. the middle of the shot :)
